how do you treat an infected 2nd degree burn caused by boiling water?

my bf was boiling water 3 nights ago and spilled some on his foot and burned himself. it didnt really bother him until the next day after we did a few hours of grocery shopping. now his foot almost up to his knee is all red and very swollen. the burn itself also looks very infected. our friend who is a cna cleaned it with peroxide last night and put a baking soda paste on it. we tried to talk him into going to the er last night but he wouldnt go. i know from being a pca and seeing skin problems all the time that its something that needs treated with medication. he wont let me do anything to it except for dump peroxide on it every once in a while. hes been taking old antibiotics that he kept from when he had a toothache which he says hes helping. hes also been taking extra stregnth tylenol because he cant take ibprophen. i just need ideas on other things i can do to treat it at home or if i should just make him go to the er. hes been keeping it up some but hes also been trying to walk on it which i told him not to but he wont listen to me about that either. the burn is round and about the size of two 50c pieces put side by side.

He is a big boy. Lay out the facts and let him make his choices. Infection, scarring, possible surgery, time off work, possible loss of job, the list goes on and on. Make a list. Hand it to him. Then let it go. You cannot help someone who does not want to be helped. The more attention you give, the more likely he is to dig in and refuse to go.

He has to care about himself enough to take care of himself, you can't do it for him. You are his girlfriend not his mother or caretaker.

your friend who is CNA knows nothing. Peroxide is wrong. especially for burns. It eats up healthy cells. Baking soda is an old time remedy that will just do nothing. The old antibiotics are probably the wrong type. Tell him he needs to go see a Dr.STOP THE PEROXIDE
