Is there anything free to download to get rid of "CONTRAST" that keeps popping up on my screen

Sounds like a Monitor problem, perhaps the contrast button is sticking on the Monitor.

Are you pressing any buttons on your monitor? Usually that is related to settings for the monitor and is not software related.
