NO, SS or SSI and SSDI as well as VA comp can not be garnished except in the case of back due child support, taxes and overpayment of benefits.
Debt collectors can not touch your income. However, if you have any other type of income, keep it in a seperate account, if you mingle funds, they could seize the account, then you would have to prove what funds were what.

Unless it a government agency. Child Support, Student Loan, items of this nature then yes they can other than that tell them to have a nice day.
