When you get home does your dog do this?

When I get home my JRT grabs his favorite toy and runs up and down the hall way, over and over , sometimes growling as he does it. Is he just that happy that Mom's home?

To me, your dog just sounds happy that you're home and is inviting you to some much needed play time. :)

My dog (a 3lb female chi) didn't, but she would go to the door, sit with tail wagging hard, and bark/growl/howl at whomever was coming in. Or, she would run up to us, doing her happy "you're home!" dance-sometimes demanding to be played with for a few minutes once we put our stuff down.

I've always considered it to be a good thing if I have something that's happy to see me whenever I come home, even if my day has been rotten. It's at least one good thing that happens on days like those. Even if it's a good day, it makes my day that much better. :)

yes, my dogs do that too and my little pug will grab a toy and run around in circles around me until I grab the leash and we all go for a 20 min walk and then my dogs settles down because they know I'm home for the night :o)

not exactly, but my shih tzu grabs her favorite toy and runs down the stairs with it to meet me at the door, i think shes just excited that im home. so maybe your dog is the same way as mine. Gets excited and wants to play.

they don't do that when I get home, they just wiggle their entire body waiting impatiently on me to pick them up so they can kiss me. But they do run up and down the hall way over and over again when they get out of the bath. It's funny to watch

Mine sit at the door and whine until I open it. They know the sound of the car and start getting impatient to see us. They don't jump on me unless I tell them it is OK to do so. Mostly they just wiggle and show they are happy.

this is a good behavior, he's showing his excitement in a way he knows is appropriate.

my dallas used to bring me her food dish until one day i opened the door and accidentally bopped her on the nose.

my puppies run into their crates because they think it's dinner time.
