First does anyone know where my keys are? any psychics on line? NO? Oh well it was worth a shot.
Any tips from others who've had this problem? I have replaced the house keys etc from spares but the spare car key was not where its meant to be - aargh!
But besides the $150 NZD for a locksmith has anyone had an imaginative way to solve this. (Its an old car and only worth slightly more than the replacement key!! LOL)
I have already contacted the manufacturer and they don't have a replacement available.
Thanks for your tips - funny comments and stories welcome I could use some light relief over this!
Thanks for your help everyone. I have the answer - a locksmith will replace the key for $15 is I take the drivers door lock off and take it in to him.
I checked out the wreckers and they were the same price as a callout, PLUS I would need a mechanic to install it.
Thanks for your tips, I am off to pull my door to pieces!!

It would help to know what make and year your car is. If it's prior to when they put chips in the keys you could look at replacing the ignition lock with one from a wrecking yard.

What kind of car? You can go to the dealership and give them your vin number and they will cut you the key. Way less than 150.
You will need the registration to proove it is your car.
