  • Help me get rid of Metacrawler search default please?

It snuck in as an add on when one of the kids added a toolbar from playboost. It has set itself as a default and seems to have removed the other default options from the list. It is not removable from internet eplorer (v8) and is not on the add/remove list in control panel.

I have heard some people like it but I hate it!

System restore is not an option as I am temp using an old computer which doesn't have enough space. (it wasn't set up for restore points anyway).

any tips? (oh yeah running XP) btw.

  • How do I know for sure that my old dog is done with this life?

She is a nearly 15 year old Ridgeback/Lab cross, we've had her since she was dumped at 6 weeks. She truly is a family member but I will not keep her alive just because it will hurt to see her go. She eats happily, although we chop her food these days or she chokes. And she drinks normally. She has arthritis which makes getting up in the morning a little slower. She doesn't fit and her eyesight is good, although her hearing is a little reduced. The main problem is she soils her room (yes she has her own room (with hard floors and a couch to sleep on) because I can't let her sleep outside). She has lost muscle tone, but is still perky when given attention and played with. I have spoken to the vet and he says there is no sign of pain or fitting so just love her, I just know she is not as happy as she could be.

    What would you do?

  • Why do men object to having vasectomies?

Ok - guys especially! What are your objections? If you are in your 40's and a stable relationship - already have all the kids you say you want.

Why not have a vasectomy - be honest - tell me why not?

  • Good free genealogy sites for the UK 1870's-1880's please?

I am helping a friend who has found a letter written in 1883, from Knockholt Manor, Sevenoaks. It is fascinating reading and is probably from a relative to her great uncle, but no names are mentioned. However I have found there were only a handful of houses in Knockholt at the time so it should be easy to link her known family tree here in NZ to the Knockholt area, just need a good site to start looking in. Any tips? It does mention 'father' died at Leigh on 9 August 1883. The only death I have found is Dr Robert Moffat (David Livingstones father in law) Any help would be much appreciated, we are enjoying the search very much.

  • 9 Year old Girl. Help from other parents please.?

She is all angel or all demon. And almost anything can light her fuse. Other mums at school are experiencing or have experienced varying degrees of disrespect, whinging, outright rage and general moodiness.

She is at an age where I cannot physically move her to time out spots, she is sronger than me, I have removed treasured possessions, withheld, priviledges and keep trying to communicate (which she is good at when the mood takes her). She always apologises when she has done something wrong (eventually) but in the moment she is explosive and just escalates.

My question is for other parents who been through this "stage", how did you get through it with your own sanity, and what techniques actually helped you to manage her behaviour.

I know she is prepubesent. She is the oldest (much to her disgust) of 3 kids.

Thanks for any tips - and especially for any humour to help see us through!

  • Cutting a new key for the ignition, using the door lock? Honda Civic.?

Honda Civic 1984, old car, not powered lock, nor chipped key.

I have talked to a locksmith who will charge $115 to come out and build a new key for the car, but only $15 if we take the drivers door lock to them to cut the key.

Question, is this commonly done and is there a chance that the key for the door lock may not fit the ignition anyway?

Anyone with experience of this or similar prob would be reassuring.

    Thanks guys.

ps we did have a spare at my dads, but he's lost it!!

  • Help I've lost my keys!! Whats the cheapest way to replace my car key?

First does anyone know where my keys are? any psychics on line? NO? Oh well it was worth a shot.

Any tips from others who've had this problem? I have replaced the house keys etc from spares but the spare car key was not where its meant to be - aargh!

But besides the $150 NZD for a locksmith has anyone had an imaginative way to solve this. (Its an old car and only worth slightly more than the replacement key!! LOL)

I have already contacted the manufacturer and they don't have a replacement available.

Thanks for your tips - funny comments and stories welcome I could use some light relief over this!

  • Is this my wisdom tooth? or something else.?

I know you're all gonna say go to the dentist - and I will next week. But for now I'd like an opinion other than my own guess.

I have had on off pain for 4 months or so, which has gotten much worse since my 3 year old accidentally kicked me upwards under my chin. (He was on the trampoline and I was holding his hands when he flipped backwards! - not adult abuse!) My teeth hit together really hard and the pain was HORRIBLE for a few hours. I'm grateful my tongue wasn't in between. That was 2 weeks ago.

The pain I get now is sort just there, mostly but every now and then it takes my breath away for a while. But I can't quite work out where it is, strange I think. It is my upper jaw anywhere from my ear to the left of my front teeth. Sometimes the lower jaw too.

Tonight I rested my head on my hand and touched a spot just below my cheek -- and nearly passed out from the pain -- which subsided, but man that did it.

That was when it dawned on me that it may be my wisdom tooth, not a sign of it in my mouth yet. Its opposite on the bottom has grown in sideways and the 2nd molar next to it was removed because it cracked it so I have a history of wonky wisdom (he he sorry for the funny).

Does anyone else think it the wisdom tooth? Or injury from my sons foot?

    I appreciate your opinions.

  • How do you have a good 1st Xmas after a death in the family?

Mum died 6 weeks ago and it seems no-one is very interested in Xmas. I am a little scared of it myself but mum had 18 Grandkids who are obviously still expecting a big bang! and she loved being with everyone. I'd like to make this Xmas not so bad or really special somehow. Any ideas?

  • Death caused by chest drain adjustment?

My mother died 6 weeks ago when her chest drain was moved. It apparently had adhered to her lung and moving it tore a hole in her lung which killed her instantly. Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is it common or uncommon what other questions should we ask at the inquest into her death?

she did have emphysema, and was in hospital with pneumonia, but was improved and expected to recover.
