As many have already answered, it varies from department to department based on policy.

At our department the police officer can't control the video unit and is always running when the light bars are activated. In addition we have no access to the recorded media. Also we have a buffer that begins recording 30 seconds prior to activating our lights which aids in capturing the violation for which the traffic stop is being initiated.

it is totally criminal to video and audio cops while there's no expectation of privateness. - and that's criminal in each and every state. - it in simple terms relies upon on the type which you do it. - in simple terms considering you get arrested, does not mean which you have broken the regulation, and whether you plead in charge, it does not mean which you have been in charge. - the reason police cant be charged with that, is via the fact it isnt unlawful to do.

    Depends on the department.

Our policy is to always use them on traffic stops. Some departments use them only on certain stops, and some have no cameras at all.
