Help with falling asleep and waking up?

Every night I have a huge trouble of being able to fall asleep. I am normally up until 2 or later. Then I have a terrible time waking up in the morning. I sleep through my alarm and if I do hear it I'll wake up only to fall back asleep. I think I may have insomnia but my parents don't believe me. It is now affecting my school work. I need help on being able to fall asleep and waking up. Thanks!

A routine is best. Same time to bed. Same time up.

Start preparing for bed a couple of hours before. Turn lights low. Little TV or computer. Low excitement. Read. Don't eat & no caffeinated drinks. Only sleep in your bedroom. No TV. Make sure its dark AND quiet. And get at least 8 hours.

To rise. Alarm across room. Turn bright lights on right away. Drink a glass of cold water as soon as you wake up. Some light exercise helps too.

And try some deep breathing. 4 count in, hold 2 count. Exhale 2 count. 4 or 5 times.

    And eat breakfast.

Avoid caffeine in cola drinks. Move the alarm out of reach.
