Whats wrong with my car now?

I recently replaced the heater hose valve on my 95 pontiac bonneville sse.It had broken will driving.after i replaced it i refilled it with antifreeze/coolant.although im not really having a problem with it overheating what happens is the temp. guage goes all the way to the redzone then drops to about 200 and every so often ill get the low coolant light on even though its filled all the way up. Car doesnt overheat.Could the thermostat be bad or does it sound like a pump problem? Before the temperature guage would maintain at 200.now it just fluctuates and goes down.Any ideas?

    It is a thermostat problem

That sounds like you have an air-pocket in your antifreeze coolant. Try taking the heater hose off where it plugs into the intake manifold (when the engine is cold, of course) and then filling the radiator or plastic reservoir with a mixture of antifreeze/water until you see the coolant coming out of the tube that you took the heater hose off of in a steady stream with no air-bubbles in it and then reconnect the hose. I hope this works. The next thing I'd try if this doesn't work would be to attach a known good temperature gage to the engine to see if the temperature gage is good.

Source(s): This worked with my cars, on one of my cars I ended up installing a manual temp gage in the dash where the clock that no longer works was and on the other the antifreeze bleeding method worked.

Is the fan running properly? Check to coolant level in the bottle. Could be a bad temp. sensor

the temperature control sensor may be bad. have the car scanned for a code.for free at AutoZone.

Your car may be fine, it just might be the car temp sensor acting funky!

    good luck!
