My mom was just bitten by my neighbor's cockatoo..., hard! Does she need to go to the hospital?
We put peroxide on it and bandaged the wound. It broke the skin a little but the real wound came from how deep it pinched her.
My mom is 86 years old and I don't want her to get sick.
Should she go to the hospital or the doctor?

Yea..., my 86 year old mom hassled the bird. It's all her fault. Give me a break.

Ive been bitten hundreds of times. First aid is enough.A too's bite is crushing and it will probably be pretty sore for a while .Just watch it like you would any wound and at the first sign of trouble contact a doctor. Of course if it is a worry to you you can visit the doctor. I never did but it's your mother.
PS Cockatoos dont get rabies. Just mammals do.

Cockatoos can be very aggressive so I know how easy it is to get bit. My friend's cockatoo would bite for no reason. To be safe, I'd go to a walk-in clinic just to be safe. You can never be too careful at age 86! It might get infected so get to the doctor as fast as you can.

What did she do to get on the cockatoo's nerves, and why did the owner not interpret the obvious "I'm gonna bite" warning signals?
Anyway, like said before, just basic first aid will do. There will be a nice bruise soon, if there isn't already. And next time, she needs to be more careful around the bird. Their body language is very easy to read, so it could have easily been avoided.

I would take your mom the the Hospital. You can't be sure that the Cackatoo doesn't have rabbies
