What ever happened to the phoenix lander?

    it landed on mars, took soil samples and pics, completed its mission, and then "died" due to lack of sunlight to power its solar cells.

    overall a successful mission.

    it lasted longer than it was supposed to, under far worse conditions than the small rovers were under; it was powered down and will attempt to power back up in the Martian spring. If successful, we may get a signal from it complaining "I'm bored".

    The winter on Mars killed it off.
