Why did they call the Mondrian hotels "Mondrian"?

They do not bear any relation in style or artistic philosophy to Piet Mondrian and the owners are called Morgan, not Mondrian. None of the designers who designed each of the Mondrian locations is named Mondrian. And nowhere on their website does it explain the name. Does anyone know?

If you know anything about the artist Mondrian and look at the building you will see why they call it The Mondrian. He was a cubist and the way the building was designed mimics the technique he used.

It's all about the marketing. It sounds nice. You can bet a bunch of marketing geeks sat around a room brainstorming about that one.

I could open up a chain of hotels called Picasso if I wanted.
