Cats do not need to be bathed..not unless they get into something very sticky or oily that they cannot take care of themselves. Cats clean themselves..they are not like dogs that DO need baths occasionally. If you bathe your cat too often it will dry up natural oils in it's skin which can lead to dry skin and rashes and skin irritations. Just let your cat clean itself..stop stressing him and yourself out.

If all your cat does during a bath is squirm, count yourself lucky. If I need to bathe my cats, I usually have to really get a good grip on them since they would like to bolt.

  • my white cat Angel doesnt squirm but of course shes used to it as shes been getting baths since she was 6 weeks old, they all squirm at first but if you keep at it by giving her a bath once a week unil she she gets older then she wont do it as much, it's the "getting used to part" that may take a minute.

Well maybe hes like "squirming" because he doesn't want a bath.

Cats clean themselves. and almost every cat licks it self when its done with its "bath time", so theres not really a point in washing it, when its licks it self afterwards anyways.

Yes, It is usual for a cat or kitten to squirm because most cat and kittens hate water. Its even worse if they are clawing and biting:( Good Luck!!:)

I think "squirm" is an understatement!!! I have only bathed my cats when they first arrived in my home for a flea bath. I wouldn't bathe them often unless they are lazy at cleaning themselves and dander builds up on their fur and you are allergic. Cats lick themselves and hate water. That's why they claw you to death!!

yeah thats because youre NOT supossed to bathe them, they clean themselves by licking themselves. you are only supposed to bathe them if they are covered in mud or something.....cats HATE water
