How much does it cost to fix a dogs broken leg?

My 7lb Rat Terrier was playing with her big dog friends and leaping off furniture and just broke her front leg. This is the first little dog I have owned and Rescued her from a shelter only a week ago! I am taking her to the vet here in a couple hours when they open. Meanwhile it is splinted and she was given doggie pain meds and is sleeping on the couch. How much am I looking at to get this leg fixed, it is fractured close to the ankle, if not the ankle itself. I have never had one of my dogs break a leg!

It really just depends on the severity of the break. Something like that can run up into over a thousand dollars, hopefully it isn't something that will need to be operated on. It sounds like you are taking really good care of her in the meantime, though. Good luck!

What leg is it? no count if it incredibly is a rear leg, it could desire to be an anterior cruciate ligament rupture. the explanation that i think of it is when you consider which you assert she isn't painful. Cruciate ligament ruptures reason canines to no longer choose to place weight on the rear leg, yet they do no longer look painful while the limb is touched. broken bones are often very painful. Did she have a serious twist of destiny, like falling down the stairs, or getting hit via a motor vehicle? it often takes something like this for a fracture, yet no longer constantly. cost can variety a great deal, finding on the size of the dogs, the area and form of the fracture, and the restoration needed. no count if it incredibly is a cruciate ligament harm, surgical technique is often purely right, and value relies upon upon the way it incredibly is repaired. undergo in ideas, no count if it incredibly is a fracture, the cost of the preliminary surgical technique will maximum in all possibility no longer comprise rechecks and xrays needed to choose healing. stable success, and that i'm hoping it is no longer a fracture!

Depends on the vet and depends on the dog size. Can be 1000, it cost my parents $2000 when my dog did her crucial ligament she was 2 1/2years old. She a labrador x golden retriver however i think she got another breed in her as she a little too thick boned for just those too breeds and she got a massive head for her mix.

That one of the really bad things aboout owning small breed dogs-they can break a leg or be seriously injured or killed by jumping off the furniture.

Probably anywhere from 1000 to 4000 dollars depending on the damage you are talking about.

Source(s): The amount varies on the dogs size as well. A great dane or malamute is going to be a lot more than a rat terrier. I figure on the lower end of that amount above, but it will definitely reach min of 1000 if surgery is involved. If no sugery I would expect 1000, but there is a chance of it not reaching that amount.
