Can't answer for Australia, but will answer for UK!
Of course it depends on where you mean.
Summary of London - very exciting (for a non-Londoner), fast, busy, extremely unfriendly, extremely expensive, bad for crime, knife crime in particular.
UK generally - mild weather on the whole, rains a fair bit but probably not as often as you hear, some summers it can go up to the late 20's and occasionally early 30's (degrees celcius) and winter can go anything down to -2 or -3, perhaps lower up north, I think it must be about that now! No hurricanes or bad earthquakes or large tornados (though surprisingly lots of little ones but I've never seen one myself). Crime level varies greatly depending on where you are but is obviously higher in cities as with anywhere and lesser in the countryside on the whole. Our economy is just as screwed as your own (assuming you're American) I'm afraid. Chain stores and large businesses going bankrupt by the day, mass redundancies, can't get loans etc. It's not all bad though. I live in an area where people are friendly and there is a nice atmosphere, lots of quaint little shops etc, yet am only 30 minutes on the bus from a city and 15 minutes from a town so it's not too out of the way. The countryside is lovely, yorkshire and cornwall are my favourite but that's probably because that's where I have roots, and although it's pretty quiet out there, there are big buzzing cities dotted around, such as Leeds and Sheffield etc in Yorkshire. Some cities are lovely here, some are horrible, some are average - my favourite city is Liverpool simply for it's culture, although it isn't always the most pleasant of places, really lovely ones are lancaster and oxford and york, etc. So really it all depends on your location!
Brits do complain a lot, I'll add, haha. However, despite moaning, I do feel proud to be British. We are pretty humble and little compared to America, I know, but our heritage and culture is thousands of years old and I love that, I know outsiders may view us a bit odd and quirky but I'd never go elsewhere, nowhere is perfect after all!

I'd keep looking for a country where the people are nicer. Vacation here if you have to.It's beautiful but living here is the worst.
The people are goofy and don't know what's going on in the world and drink a lot of alcohol.
They like to complain about the bad things happening in the world bug t do nothing but complain about how no other countries are helping.
You sound bright and capable...use it wisely where you will not be treated poorly.
The UK as the locals there have said has not so great weather but I lived there for 3 years and the people are awesome.Smart interesting and very civilized. The culture there can't be beat. When the weather is good they get out and have fun. When the weather is bad they find lots of interetsing things to do also.

hi well i live in uk and i love it here but thats because i hate hot weather so the rain does me fine to be honest, yes we do get sun here but not as much as australia so if your looking for a hot climate go there,in uk it all depends where you live ,uk like many places has good places and bad places.so if your thinking of coming here its best to look at your options and areas to live, you dont wanna end up in crime central or something, hey your not some asylum seeker after the benefits the british goverment offer foreigners instead of its own people lol,nah but seriously so many people moan about living in uk but noone holding a gun to there heads.maybe take a holiday here check it out for yourself then decide whether you would like to live here or not.

Never been to UK but lived in Aus my whole life. Sunny, awesome beaches, kangaroos instead of cars, no cyclones/hurricanes. Things that for some reason yanks find weird about us - Christmas during 35 degrees C summer. drive on left side of the road. school year goes feb to the end of november.

The Australian existence-type is in many situations very comfortable and easygoing, distinctly in rural components like the single I stay in. the climate is in many situations warm interior the North yet in distinctive areas of Australia there are a number of extremes interior the climate, chilly, cyclones, floods, droughts, bush fires. the everybody is far less classic here. there's a nerve-racking type in direction of development further and further residences and the bigger and extra costly the extra effective. there is alot of debt as human beings attempt to maintain up with the joneses.
