Do you think that your manager should be in the dug out, during the match?
Or the stand, . I personally cant understand why a manager would oversee tactics and changes from anywhere other than the dug out, from my own perspective i cant imagine Jim Jeffries not being in the dugout, unless he has recieved a ban. Whats your thoughts?
Biker, it's a general observation not a personal dig at Walter Smith. A manager can communicate better if he is in touch with the game, in my humble opinion for what its worth i think that the dug out is the place for the manager, not in the stand wearing a tin flute. Dont be so touchy its only a discussion

I dont think it gives a good impression if your manager prefers to sit up high away from pitchside. Love it when I see Strachan, O'neill or whoever kicking every ball just like the fans are doing.

Excellent question fella and i often wonder why they would rather be in the stands than pitchside. It must be way more awkward to relay instructions to the dugout and then when things go wrong they have to run down to sort things out.Funny how most managers dispute touchline bans but others would rather sit up there in the first place. As for wattie i think he likes seeing sally embarrassing himself in the technical area and taking the heat off himself.

notice that its normally the fatter manager with high cholesterol that sits in the stands...sam allardyce yes im talking about you...
sitting in the stand as a manager in my humble view would be too much like playing football manager on the pc, in the dug out is where the gaffer should be, barking orders, jumping up and down and kicking the advertising boards when players fluff sitters

is this a pop at watty??
i would think you would get a much better view of the game if you wus at a higher level than the dugout
well as far as i knew the length of a pitch must be between 100 yards and 130 yards and the width not less than 50 yards and not more than 100 yards so if you can see all that from a dugout yer some bloody guy !
aye and in the mordern world they can use phones

at the dugout, you get a gd view of the pitch so you can see everythin thts happenin on the pitch, and also, ur away from the rest the coaching staff and the players, so u have time with urself to think tactics

they should be in the dug out..unless they get told otherwise..they are there to guide the team..sort out any problems the team may be having..keeping a close eye on things..what good are they in the stand..
