Is this possible, in real life?

I am writing a book about boarding school students. And I am thinking of having it around Christmas. So I want to make the winter break from Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 28, is that possible in real life? (Please don't say, make it up... etc) That way I can write about the New Year's Eve Masque Ball that they sneak out to go to. Please tell me if this is possible.

Thanks guys!

Massie:)

I don't see why not, it can be the semester break. Just because they have to be back at the school on the 28th doesn't mean that classes start again that day anyway. They could start Jan. 2nd (like this year when they wouldn't start on the 29th just for 2 days of school). Just make it so it's like semester orientation on the 28th or something. Acutally, I wouldn't even give that much detail, just say it was a winter break on these dates, who's gonna notice even?!

Yes it is. Winter break varies for everyone and you can get away with it because its a boarding school, thus giving the students a longer break with their parents.

Why not? Private schools all run on their own calendars, and maybe you could run a backstory about how the school tradition was to return on the 28th for some reason? Founders' Day or something minor?

Why not write to some boarding schools, or check out their websites, and ask them? You might also see if these boarding schools have student associations, and talk to them.
