Can I pregnant while taking the placebo pills in my birth control?

This is a silly question, knowing that it is supposed to prevent it during the placebo pills as well, but what I don't understand is how it can prevent pregnancy if I am not actually having my "period" during the first two days I take the placebo pills? Thanks.

Placebos are just sugar pills they have no hormones in them as the other pills, but your body has enough birth control in it that your covered for that week taking placebos, dont worry you wont get pregnant. Placebo pills are made just to keep you in the routine of taking pills and to give your body a chance to get your period.

I got pregnant on the pill. I took it at the same time every day, i had a daily reminder go off on my phone to remind me to take it and kept it in my handbag in case i wasn't home at the time. There is no 100% way to stop getting pregnant other than don't have sex. If your really worried about getting pregnant but don't want to be celibate, take the pill, use a condom or a diaphragm and don't believe in the 'pull out method' or any other wives tales. Truth is, your better off using multiple contraceptions than just relying on one.

I understand what you're asking, and the general answer is no. You should be menstruating during that week (and therefore would not have an opportunity to ovulate - release an egg), so the chances of preganancy are SUPER slim.

Just remember that NO method of contraception is ever 100% effective, so a chance of pregnancy always exists.

the way the pills works is by stopping you ovulate and by thickening the mucus of your cervix to stop sperm from being able to get through so easily.

in your normal cycle your womb lining builds up and then bleeds away when you have your period. by the time you have taken the pills for 3 weeks your ovulation is suppressed and your body is getting ready for your period, not getting a fresh egg ready to release. so you stop taking the pills, this triggers your bleed and then you start the pills again a week later, which is the right amount of time to be able to stop the next egg from being released.

    i hope that makes sense

ps sorry to be picky but they aren't placebo pills, they're sugar pills. a placebo is when you tell someone you are giving them a drug and then give them pills/medicine with no drug in it. since you know there is no drug in the sugar pills they're not a placebo :-)

If you have taken the active pills correctly then you are still protected during the hormone free week. It takes a while for the hormone levels to drop - which is why it takes a few days for your period to arrive,
