Are chinese fire bellied newts compatible with guppies?
I'm planning on getting some chinese fire bellied newts in the near future. I'll be getting 2 newts that will live in a 10 gallon tank. So I'm wondering, what kind of fish would be able to live in the aquarium with them? I was thinking fancy guppies, but I don't know much about the newts yet so if anyone could help me pick out a small, schooling fish that would be able to live peacefully with the newts, I would be grateful (:
I know they eat fish, I was wondering if there were any kinds of fish they -wouldn't- eat. This is the case with some animals, and I was wondering if there was any type of fish they could live with, or if its best to house them by themselves.

well considering 2 fbn's need 10 gallons to themselves i wouldnt put any fish in. any fish u do put in (a larger tank with them) dont be shocked if they get eaten, or die due to poisioning form the fbn's toxins. also keep a close eye on the water qualilty as both species are messy this can cause amonia spikes strong enough to kill everything in the tank.
and keep a eye out for signs of stress

Yes i am a employee at a pet shop with plenty of experiance with newts an salamanders. A 10 gallon is perfect for them and a normal floresent light would be fine. Only fill the tank about half full, and make sure you have a place for the newt to crawl out of the water. You can feed the newts shrimp pellets, ghost shrimp when small. and the mealworms, wax, silk, and pheonix worms when it has reached around 3 inches long. The females will be a little larger than the males, but as far as personality and health goes they are no diff. Getting newts from pet stores is ok as long as you make sure they were captive bred. And most are nocturnal. They dont do too much during the day.

Sorry but it should be avoided especially small fish http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Fire_Belly_Ne... so it would be best house alone since no big fish can be housed in a 10 gallon
