Well, I would definitely hold hands with my boyfriend. It's nothing to be ashamed of. If some idiots come and make fun of us, I wouldn't mind because they have no dignity. I am who I am and I can show it in public because all human beings are born with all the same rights and if someone came up to us and made fun of us.

I'd find that pretty hypocritical. In other words, you are who you are and if God created us to be his children, he wouldn't mind us sharing love/sympathy with ourselves and that includes a symbol of holding hands which is love. I think that holding hands shows how much two people love each other that's all.

He's shy and doesn't want to embarrass himself by saying your his girlfriend and you then turning round saying 'no I'm not', nor does he want to say something lovey duvey because he'll feel like a bit of an arrsehole. That's how guys think, we're terrified of getting rejected or let down or disappointed.

My ex-girlfriend and I used to show our affection all of the time, in many ways - kissing, holding hands, even snuggling.

At a county fair several years back, we found ourselves making out, which seemed to be somewhat of a mistake. Many were disgusted by our actions and showed it through facial expressions, by flipping us the bird, or by insulting us in 'quiet voices' that we still ended up hearing. However, one man seemed to enjoy it. o_o He must have been drunk or desperate, but he asked us to come back to his place so he could 'film us'...

I'm no longer a big fan of major PDA after this incident, with good reason.

Years ago, my partner and I were in the first throes of love, and walked down the 'front' at Brighton holding hands. We got a few tuts, but nothing more. We then went onto the beach, hired deckchairs, and settled down to sunbathe. Our legs entwined, we dozed off. We were woken up by a very butch lesbian, telling us how much she hated 'our sort' and that she wanted to punch our lights out. She stood with her fists up, daring us to fight her! We told her what she could do with her opinions, and her friend eventually dragged her away. Sometimes it's not always straights who want to go queer-bashing. Go figure :-)

When I first started dating, I kissed a woman in a gay bar. Generally speaking, I dont like to make out, kiss or show overly affection in public. It's safer that way; I dont want to go to gaol after punching some homophobe's lights out. ;)

@ MyCat's Name: Geese aren't homophobic. They're bloody mean wankers who hate everything and will chase and peck you.

Okay, haha. My friend Ryan and I were teenagers and we went into a limited too (yes, those were around when I was a teenager) I'm in my middle 20s now, but we decided to make out and freak out some little girls.

    We managed.

Then.... um... haha. This was kinda half way in public.

Ryan and I again, a year ago, were in our apartment and I was horny and I wanted to lose my virginity. (i know, a little too old to lose my virginity. at least im not like 30. or 40. HAHA.meh.) so we had sex, and the old lady below us hates us making noise, its usually just the TV that bugs her.

TV wasnt on. She came up to our room and told us to turn the TV off (we were too loud) and we occasionally made out in front of my parents, and my boss at work to freak em all out. I love it.

Yeah. Me and my bf hold hands alot, in strange places too. for our senior project in high school we had to do some improvements to school facilities, and we had to go to Home Depot, and I remember that being the first time we held hands in public. we got looks, but that's just other people, I don't care about them. elsewhere, we hold hands in public. we sometimes will kiss, but never like sucking each others' face off.

We'll hold hands in the park, but he doesn't like that because I have the habit of being chased around by geese. Geese really don't like me. I don't think they're homophobic geese (that sounded weird saying aloud), but I think that they just don't like me.

I am in Detroit, Michigan. I like to think that Michiganders are meant to hold hands, because our state is shaped like one. :-)

Yes, me and my ex did. Once on the train I had my head rested on his shoulder and this woman across from me kept staring at us. Good thing she got off at the next stop. :p

Then this one time, he kissed me on the cheek as he was leaving the train. And I was so embarrassed b.c the guy across from me was staring! Why do people stare so much? lol.

    And we held hands when we would be walking around the city. It made me feel safe. ^^;

I live in KY. I often kissed my girlfriend and held her hand in public, before she moved away.

We had one random girl on the street tell us we were cute. We got a lot of angry stares. There was one creepy guy who just sat and smiled at us from across a resturant. One girl actually got up and moved a screen between our table and hers so she couldn't see us anymore.

And once, we were at an out-door musical festival thing. And the people in charge received complaints about us. A woman walked up to us, and told us that God had spoken to her, and He had told her that we were going to Hell. Fun stuff.

Edit: After rereading this, I realize it sounds like we were practically having sex in public, so I wanted to clarify. We held hands and kissed simply--had we been a straight couple, we would have attracted no attention whatsoever.

    It depends

I vote yes; as long as it's like a peck or something

but if you mean like make out in public no... it's gross when anyone does it... gay straight bisexual trisexual transsexual asexual black white yellow pink green w/e... its just gross, I'm here to have dinner not watch you two have foreplay on my best friend's big toe...

... but I'm getting off topic, point is, there's a fine line
