What do you think Bush should take credit or blame for happening during the last eight years?

The Democrats think many of the problems we face today are at least partially due to Bush's lack of leadership or policy decisions. Some Republicans say that none of the economic, international problems are Bush's fault.

So... What EXACTLY do you think Bush should claim credit or take blame for during the last eight years?

The problem isn't that he starts everything as that he botches everything up. Katrina, for example. Some other things:

    Abu Graib

    Ignored law, allowed torture

    Illegal wiretapping

Had enough info to stop 9/11 and didn't, hid that fact from the public

Lost Bin laden at Tora Bora

    Crassly unconstitutional signing statements

Stripped resources from Afghanistan and sent them to Iraq

    Didn't catch Bin Laden

"I'm the decider, and I decide"

Allowed Al Qaeda to regroup in Pakistan, Afghan war out of control

Gay prostitute accredited under false name to White House Press Corps to ask Bush easy questions

Had government make illegal propaganda videos and sent them to TV stations for airplay

    Cheated during presidential debate

Lied about reducing greenhouse emissions, ignored warming

Muzzled warming scientists in NASA and elsewhere

Political appointments to Department of Justice and political prosecutions

Cheney, Rove, and others in contempt of Congress -- refused to tell the American people the truth

    Commuted Libby's sentence

    "Misunderestimate:

The moment the 2008 election was over, put in place executive orders to destroy the environment; will take years to undo

No Child Left Behind a total flop

    Smeared McCain in South Carolina

    Smeared Kerry -- Swift Boating

Why did Karl Rove resign again?

    "Nucular"

Revealed identity of deep cover CIA agent in an attempt to discredit Ambassador Wilson for telling the truth about yellowcake

Fooled public into believing Saddam was involved in 9/11 when he knew otherwise

Made light of inabilty to find WMD's

Didn't attend one single military funeral in eight years

Katrina -- "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job!"

    Fired Shinseki

Social Security privatization plan so ridiculously bad even his own party wouldn't go for it

Signed Bridge to Nowhere and other pork; first president not to veto pork

    Ran up record deficits

    Repeated recessions, poor job growth

Fiscally irresponsible tax cuts for the rich

On vacation more than one out of eight years

Tried to make aid for auto industry contingent on free trade agreement with Colombia(!)

Banned Federal financing of fetal stem cell research

Flew back to sign Terri Schiavo legislation

    Goosed the chancellor of Germany

    Alienated many of our allies

    Joked about WMD's

Pork barrelled anti-terrorism funds so cities like New York and Washington that were at highest risk didn't get the funds they needed

No-bid contracts for billions went to vice-president Cheney's company

Department of Faith-Based Initiatives, unconstitutional and in practice a conduit for money to religous right as reward for supporting the GOP

I don`t blame Bush Jr. for the republicans giving away our industrial might because it started with Reagan lifting tariffs and Clinton did not help by signing the Republican NAFTA agreement. I blame Bush for ignoring 911warnings by his head of anti-terrorism and invading a country that had nothing to do with 911. However I do credit Bush for getting more people then ever politically active that otherwise would not have.

The sitting President always take credit or blame for activities under their watch. Bush is fortunate that much of the mess was cause by his action and inaction to crisis.

In the face of what this man had to deal with, Bush did an outstanding job. It's the American people who voted in the likes of Pelosi and Reid, who are to blame along with these blatant incompetents, for the problems we face today.

The Democrats, of course, will never admit this, as they are factually challenged.

Bush did not keep a foreign "dignitary" waiting like Clinton did, while he creatively used his cigar on some intern in the Oval Office. Clinton disgraced this nation with his "Bubba-esque" image. Unlike Clinton who thought only of his own interests, Bush had the interests of the American people at heart and made decisions accordingly. For this he can rightfully claim credit. If he is to blame for one thing, it would be for not taking the kind of hard line we need against the illegals, so that we can take steps to get them all out of here and back where they came from.

The Housing Market crash shoudln't be blamed on Bush.

More like Frank, Dodd, Maxine Waters, etc.

The record deficit and his inability to use his VETO Pen, is absolutely his fault.

Let me put it this way. If I had to rate Bush on a 0-10 scale. I would give him a solid 3.

I am quite sure OTHERS will have enough blame for him to not feel the need to bother.

Do you think the previous administration will EVER accept blame for 9-11?∙ - SOMALIA, The sub-prime mortgage fiasco?

I think Bush should be given credit for taking swift action against terrorists in Afghanistan after 9/11 and preventing further attacks here on our soil. You have to admit Clinton never did anything like that after they attacked us before, and seeing as how we haven't been attacked like that since then, it must be due to the fact that they're preoccupied with fighting us over there now, instead of here.

I think Bush should be given a small part of the blame for the housing crisis that led to our economic problems. Carter and Clinton (and their Congresses) passed bills that gave out easy loans to the undeserving, and Bush did more of that. He DID try to regulate Fannie and Freddie more and was stopped by Dems (who were given lots of campaign money from Frannie and Freddie) in Congress. But he should have taken a bigger stance on that before letting it get so bad.

I also think Bush should be blamed for how the Iraq war was conducted. I can't fault him for invading, as Saddam was a sick and twisted killer who needed to be taken out (and that was only one of many reasons given for invading that Congress approved of) and made everyone in the world believe he had WMD's. But the actual strategy, that was bad. McCain pointed out that there were major flaws in it from the beginning, and I have to agree, things would be much better there today if Bush had listened to McCain years ago.

i think that he can take credit for pulling this country together after 9-11 he had the entire country hating the dixie chics for what was said ...he also showed that we as a country fail when it comes to taking care of our own case in point katrina, that was not all his fault, in that area on the tv they werent even telling people how bad it was going to be most were calling friends in Other states and learning how devastating it was actually going to be again the media holds some blame the people of that state elected their head moron again after katrina and he brought alot of the wait and other bs they went thru down too.....bush showed that even when the public hates you ..you can still try to do your job to the best of your ability...does all of the economy fall on bush, nope its our country if falls on all of us, if we max out our credit cards and try to outdo the neighbor with a bigger house and newer car how can we be surprised when our economy tanks they did what millions of americans do every day live well above their means.
