difference between SMB 3 and SMB Elite boots?

Anyone know which is better and what the actual difference is between the two types? I thought they came out both about the same time, the Elite then the SMBs 3...but they still say the Elite is better? Y?

Update:

HPTSEQ- What was it you didn't like about the elites at all? certain little quirks or ? is there a boot brand that you suggest more on over smbs? thanks!

Personally I like the impact gel boots the best, the legacy comes second. I think buying the right boots can make all the difference in the world, I don't take any chances with legs....I have used both the SMB and the Elites, I don't like the Elites at all....I have switched over to the impacts.

Source(s): the elites were too small and the suspensory wrap I didn't feel gave good support....I like the classic equine boots http://www.smithbrothers.com/product.asp?splid=050... and impact Gel but they are expensive and hard to find.

    Smb Elite Boots

The SMB 3 is a combination of the SMB II and the SMB Elite.

The SMB-3™ is a hybrid between the two best selling protective boots, the original SMB II® and the new standard, the SMB Elite™. The exterior is constructed with Professional’s Choice signature limestone-based neoprene. Together with an UltraShock™ lining, the SMB-3™ safeguards the cannon bone, tendons and soft tissue, while absorbing energy from hoof impact. The slightly longer suspensory strap stretches upon each impact of the hoof, allowing full ankle movement, helping to eliminate hyperextension of the fetlock. The SMB-3™ is cut back at the lower front to allow for proper fit when used with any Professional’s Choice bell boot. It also has lycra binding with a slight stretch that creates a more snug fit, both along the top and bottom of the boot, helping to keep dirt out.

I prefer the elites... They are made to conform to your horse more than any of the other brands.

Here these are the elite model

    Here are the smb 3

    http://www.discounthorse.com/shop/thumb/boots-and-...

see how the elites are more tailored to the horse?

On professional Chocies website they have a comparison chart between all the boots as seen here

    http://www.profchoice.com/htmldocs/prd/protgear/pr...

The only differences that they have listed on there is like I said the contoured fit... Also elites have a 12 month warranty as the smb 3's only have a 6 month warranty... Go with the elites... You'll love them!

Technically, they are both SMB Elites, I think the only difference is that the SMB Elite Ventechs have more breathable neoprene. I use SMB Elites and they work great for Barrel Racing and Poles.

Elites keep the dirt out pretty nicely, they are easier to get on, and IMO offer more protection. I also love the legacy boots
