intel pentium d vs dual core?

The old Pentium D's use the same architecture as the Pentium 4's its basically the same chip just renamed.

The newer Dual cores "core 2 duo" use a completely new architecture and is head over tails better than the Pentium D regardless of clock speed.

dual core series im asking because both cpus have 800 mhz fsb and 1 mb of L2 cache in almost all versions

Pentium dual core's are not as nice as Pentium D's. They are not as powerful and are older technology. However if you want dual core computing and you want to use intel, use the core 2 duo series because the Pentium Dual cores and pentium d's are dying off and will be obsolete within a year.

Don't buy Pentium D,it is years old!

Buy new E8*** processor and don't mess with old and dead technology!!

Major differences are in architecture and about 3 years !!!!

dual core can do two processes at the same time

pentium d have hyperthreading i think... anyways it kind of does the same thing as a dual core but not as well as dual core can...
