Is Metal taking over the world?

The reason these poser wanna-be metal bands are so popular is because it's a little fad that is in right now and MTV is ramming it down everyone's throat, telling all the kids that it's cool to listen to trendy starbucks, flip-flop wearing metal bands when not too long ago they were playing nothing but rap. If anyone wants really ******* good metal they need to let go of their Hot Topic gift cards, turn off their radios and stop watching MTV. Step outside of the mainstream, you'll be amazed at the kinds of music that is out there.

Korn, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, The Devil Wears Prada, Suicide Silence, WhiteChapel, A7x, Killswitch Engage, Linkin Park, Lamb Of God...... ARE NOT REAL METAL.

Metal isn't taking over anything, and actually has such a small market share, I'm surprised by this question. I'm a thrasher (type of metalhead) and would love it to be the most popular type of music, but it's only gaining more mainstream acceptance, therefore seems to be increasing dramatically. In the US, country is still #1, and rock #2, although that's still surprising to me, but I doubt it'll last much longer before they switch.

well, true metal will not, but some hardcore stuff like linkin park and system of a down could become the most popular

Nah,Metal is good and has a great amount of followers.But,nothing,and I mean nothing will never compare to hip hop.Everyone loves that bull,and I'm afraid its not changing anytime soon.

When Metal gets to popular it loses its edge. I am glad it is regaining some ground, but if it gets to be the "music", then it won't be metal.

Is it popular now? Or maybe you're just starting to realize it more? I don't think it's more popular, but I have been looking into it more over the recent year.

Probably not, but that's good because if it gets too popular then you get a ton of posers. I wish Slash wasn't in guitar hero

there are still too many people who say its not music or not good music because of the screaming and such.

It'll most likely be "rap/hip-hop" for a while.

whether or not it regains the status it had in the 80's remains to be seen but even when popularity is down, it NEVER goes away.

i hope it does. metal is freaking awesome. but most people like other things. everyones different.. :(
