The NFL has ruined the Pro Bowl?

The league has speculated about moving the Pro Bowl to the Sunday prior to the Super Bowl for most of the season. But, it looks like they have finally done it:

How do you think this will affect the Pro Bowl? It seems to me that many players who are selected to the Pro Bowl may also be playing in the Super Bowl the following week. Given the possibility of injuries before the Super Bowl, I'm guessing players will opt out of the Pro Bowl.

There will be more interest in the pro bowl if it's held before the Super Bowl, but I wouldn't expect a much higher television audience than recent games. There may be more people attending the game, since it will be new to the local interests.

This part of the article surprises me:

"The initiative to experiment with the Pro Bowl schedule and location was discussed over the past two years with NFL club owners, the NFL Players Association, the NFL Player Advisory Council, and other players, and it received wide player and club support."

Maybe it's the money angle. Usually is.

I doubt I'll watch it regardless. And if the pro bowl selections from the 2 Super Bowl contenders don't play, then that devalues the game even more.

I was discussing the pro bowl with a friend last year and he said, "Hell, just give them a plaque or something and maybe a fruit basket and call it good."

I'd do a bit more than that, but not much. I'd suggest they just drop the game idea and have an award ceremony of some sort. They could do that before the Super Bowl and show some highlight clips and give the players their awards. I'd come closer to watching that than I would a meaningless game.

OK, for the hundredth time today ... players whose teams are in the Super Bowl that year will NOT be allowed to participate in the Pro Bowl. So risking an injury for the Super Bowl will not be an issue.

Anyway, it's a dumb move. It won't make me want to watch the game anymore than I do now. They need to just call it off, name the All-Pro squad, and give the guys a big celebration, or a bonus check, or something.

  • It is a very stupid move to:

A: Move it a week before the Super Bowl.

B: Move it out of Hawaii.

Living in Hawaii, it is the only chance to watch professionals play football, even if it doesn't mean anything. The gathering of players, events beforehand, are really fun, and good for tourism here (our number 1 economy). With the economy the way it is, tourism is way down, and moving it to Miami really hurts us. More players are probably willing to go to Hawaii than Miami, so it becomes pointless to attend.

I know no one watches the game, but they should still have one. The all-star game means something (homefield advantage), so maybe they should do that for the Pro Bowl. Winner gets homefield in the next years SuperBowl, instead of these pre determined stadiums.

that second comment about not watching is how the majority of NFL fans feel about the Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl hardly gets any viewers every year. I've never understood this though since this is considered the All-Star game of the NFL.

And then I saw last night that in 2010 the Pro Bowl will be in Miami instead of in Hawaii

he's no longer no longer hassle-free sufficient on the celebrations element. as quickly as you score, you hand or toss the ball to the closest genuine. that's professional soccer, no longer exterior BS. gamers could desire to understand that they are experts. the group bangers have ruined the NBA. Goodell does not choose this to ensue to the NFL. the accepted public theory of the ball gamers outcomes the final analysis. I see no longer something incorrect with a pat on the decrease back, shaking palms or a extreme 5 after a score, the rest--15 yards for unsportsmanlike habit or postpone of the interest. Act such as you have been over the purpose line earlier. improve up and be a expert, many others could desire to take your place for much less money.

A very stupid move and moving it to Miami will take away any reason to participate. The players will no longer look forward to the Pro Bowl if it is Miami and most of the elite players won't play in it anymore. Very stupid move.

It's a little hard to ruin an event that is already not worth watching.
