Are these story ideas any good?!?

Kids always thinks about what they want to be when they grow up. I'm one of those "kids". I've always wanted to be an author ever since I was in 1st grade. I'm always reading and writing. I was just asking these fellow Yahoo! users if any of these story ideas are any good. So, below are just a couple of some story ideas I thought of over the past years.

"Forbidden"- Working title

a teen who recently turned 14 is taken from her home in her sleep, to wake up in a prison(?) all across her universe. Into a place she has never been to before, a place she never knew existed. Confused why she is there, she meets other young teens the same age who have ended up there, too, not knowing why.

"Unsolved"- working title

Two brothers addicted to video games, end up getting a video game, but get what they didn't pay for; a home video of a murder.

"The Undead"- working title

A young girl dies after her house burned down. After a few years, a new home is built over, and a new family moves in. With the spirit still roaming, one of the family members tries to figure out why "she" is furious. Expecting for answers, she gets what she didn't ask for; the ghost's burned teddy bear that she held onto while her body burned to ashes.

"175 Miles Away, And Still Counting..."- working title

17-year old Veronica Furnes can't stop think about her love, Brody Kenings, after he moved to Australia (?) after his mom found a new job. Veronica starts recieving roses in the mail, also with a letter tied to each one. Saying that he has never forgot about her, and that he is watching over her. But a few weeks later, she recieved a phone call from Brody's mom, saying that Brody died a week ago after drowning in the ocean from surfing (?). Veronica is freaked out, because, how have she been getting those roses in the mail, if he's dead?

Yeah, that's about it. So what do you guys think?! You can tell me which you like and don't really like, and you can also help me by putting up options in the places where I put the (?). You can also think of some titles, too. OH, and when I become the New York Times bestseller, I WILL remember to credit ALL those who helped me in the making :) Thank you guys SOOO much!

Update:

Thank you guys SOOO much for the awesome answers!!! They were all helpful. I have decided which stories I'm going to write, and which ones to drop.

Here are the ones I'm going to write:

-"Forbidden"

-"Undead"

-"175 Miles Away, and Still Counting..."

-------------------------------------------------------

The rest, I'm going to drop.

Once again, thank you for the awesome answers!

The first one sounds really good. Btw i love your ideas! I like the first one the best! I think the title for 175 miles away and Still Counting...should be Presents from the Dead. and i like the Undead 2nd best. i think you should really start writing these. if you need help contact me..i would realyl love to help cause i love to write too! For the Undead story you should have the girl start finding out about the ghosts past and stuff (that would be creepy)and as she uncovers more and more the ghosts is after her or something. you know what i mean? like the girl wasnt supposed to know that much and th girl was beginning to find something in the house that was supposed to be secret like a journal or a key or something creppy like the ghosts parents bones and the ghost wanted them to be safe so shes after her. I think you should have more about Unsolved or lose it. like what would happen after they see the killing video? howbout they are after the killer while their in the video game.

EDIT: for the 175 miles away and still counting have the veronica like start forgetting the roses and trying to get it out of her head and move on. then she finds another guy and starts falling in love with him but brody keeps trying to stop her and then he goes crazy etc. you carry it on

    hoped i helped

i would love to help more because i have really good ideas for forbidden if you wanna write it w/ some1

    Wow, I'm interested already.

Forbidden- I like it, I like the idea, not sure if its my type of read, but I think it has potential!

Unsolved-Once again, not something I would pick up. But I think it could be made into a movie. ;]. And I think it could make for a good mystery!

Undead-Ooh, this one gave me goose bumps already. I think if you add more detail, maybe through in some unexpected twists, I think this one will be a hit! Something like this "spirit" leads her into the future, or shares with her the past.. That would be fun!

175 Miles Away, And Still Counting- This one is my favorite. I think you can take this one all the way. Australia, is a perfect location. I like it, no need for a question mark. ;]. I also think surfing is a good idea. Maybe, with the roses, and letters, he could lead her to her next love.. or something to that degree. I really like this idea though, its caught my attention. plus I also lost my breath while reading the last sentence.

Good Luck! Hope I was Helpful!.

The main idea of your story can lead you to the desirable result, as long as you avoid focusing on the overused and - leniently - cliched theme of, well, "romance". There is always a teenage girl moving to some place else, and there she gets to meet the man/boy who will change her life. Story plots might change slightly, always depending on the person writing the particular story, but they do share similar traits, which is why people get tired of them. First of all, you should make sure that your reading audience is ready to accept the " unwonted " love of a young girl for an obviously older man. Secondly - and I am fully aware of the fact that this is just an incomplete "premise" of your story - your facts lack explanation whatsoever. For example, how long did it take her to reincarnate ? How long had she been having those dreams ? Judging from the fact that the boy of her dreams is now an almost 40 year old man, it must have been a while. And how did they recognize each other since her soul was inside another girl's body (you mentioned reincarnation, not resuscitation).

I like the first one a lot I think it has real potential as a novel or even a series (I didn't read endersgame so you might wanna check into that and make sure your not too similar)

The rest do sound like youth or teen stories (not a bad thing!)

All in all I think they are all worth writing and see how they go!

in your last one you have a couple of question marks....Australia is ok but florida would be better (due to all of the surfer/shark attacks there recently) and instead of drowning just have him disappear, all they find is the surf board mangled by sharks. This can give your story the added mystery of whether or not he is really dead.

I really like the "175 Miles Away, And Still Counting..." one.. its very interesting and I think there isn't anything wrong in the moving to Australia bit and about the drowning from surfing.. I was thinking of him being murdered or bashed and dumped in the ocean?

The "Unsolved" one sounds pretty good too.. i was thinking of the title "Surprise" but yeah just a suggestion.

I wish you luck in your writing!

ANY story idea is good... as long as it is written well. The key is to make the reader get involved in the lives of the characters and to want to read on.

    A few examples:

A judge who belongs to a country club has a personality conflict with another member who is "not worthy" and challenges him to a game of golf. <yawn>

    This became the movie Caddyshack.

A family who is homeless and out of work drive across the county so they can work in the fields... This is the synopsis for Grapes of Wrath.

A crazy man decides to get on a horse and joust with windmills to win a girl's love... Thank you Senor Cervantes for Don Quixote

See what I mean? Classics made out of idiotic themes. The important thing to remember isn't whether the story idea is good, but rahter, did you make it worth reading.

i really like all of you ideas, i am not much of a horror story person but they sound interesting- i think that when you are writing them you should through in some twists- the girl that burned in her house, maybe it turns out that it was more than just a kitchen fire but a murderer was trapping them there and she has to figure out the story. or the one with the roses- maybe the man was planning to do something and he new his death day because maybe he had the power to time travel, i am not too sure but make it more that you think it's about, unravel the short stories into something bigger. i hope i could help and good luck with you story
