How to give my cat a pill.?

i had a similar problem a while back and i got some cubed cheese and stuck the pill in one. she thought it was a treat and ate it right away. if your cat's not used to eating cubed cheese first try giving him one without the pill in it so he understands that it's a treat.

I had 2 dogsit my friends dog once and he needed a pill 4 allergies. So we just cut a little bit of a hotdog and put the pill in there. I know he's a cat but it still should work. Stick in something he likes like fish or treats. If none of this works i would contact ur vet. He needs his pills.

In all seriousness though, the best thing to do is find a food he just can't resist- try tuna fish, canned salmon, boiled chicken, lunchmeat, whatever you have to try until you find something he goes nuts over. If it's a small pill, just put the whole pill into a chunk of the food. If it's a bigger pill, cut it into pieces and put a little piece in each chunk of food you give him. You could also see if they have a liquid form of the medication that you can use instead, it's somewhat easier to pour liquid down an animal's throat than get it to swallow pills.

sit on the floor with your cat between your legs . from behind grasp the cats head and press on his jaw at each side just behind his teeth with your left hand this will open his mouth. with the pill in your right hand put the pill into his mouth and push it to the back of his throat with the middle finger . hold his mouth closed for a few seconds then rub his throat. This should make him swallow. Make sure your nails are short or they could scratch his mouth

My mum has to give our cat a pill every day. What she does is she holds him still makes the tablet wet and slips it in and the side of its mouth, this may take a few times but the cat should swallow eventually.

I like the comment about the cube of cheese. All 5 of my cats absolutely LOOOVE cheese. Depends on how big the pill is too, they might not care for a big "pebble" in the middle of their cheese though. I'd try crushing it a little or cutting it into small pieces.

try putting the pill in a piece of hotdog, if that doesnt work, have someone hold him while you open his mouth and slide the pill down his throat, just coat it down with vegetable oil before you do this so it doesnt get stuck, its what I do when any of 5 cats have to take a pill

keep the pills in the fridge, they lose their taste if you do that. Then crush them up really really finely between 2 spoons and mix it into his food. One of my feline friends has a heart murmur and has to have a pill twice daily, and that is what we do, on recommendation from the vet.

I had the same problem with my foster cat Abbey. Try scruffing him (even though it sounds mean it's not and it doesnt hurt them at all) then open his mouth and put as far back on his tounge as you can then close his mouth and rub his throat

get a chunk of fish or something & stick the pill inside, he will eat it
