The one male is trying to dominate the other one. No they are not gay. It is just a way one male tries to be over the other male on their ranking scale.

One male humping another is an act of domination, the dog that is doing the humping is telling the other that he is superior.
The best way to fix this behavior is getting the dog fixed...Tho training helps as well. Making a loud noise can distract the dog from the behavior and be sure to reward them when they stop when commanded. Also be sure to use hand signals as well.

humping is a sign of dominance. It is not all about sex. female dogs who are trying to be alpha will hump a male or female they are expressing dominance over.
It's the dog version of "who's your daddy"

1) Fix the dog and it will probably stop
2) the dog isn't gay. He's just displaying dominance over the other dogs.

No, he isn't gay. He's simply stating his dominance over the other male. Once you neuter him, he'll most likely stop the behavior.

This is normal behavior, but I am not sure why he would have started just recently, never having done it before.

He just needs to be "altered" and he should stop.
