ok, i had the same problem!
Ight, now here is some thing's that you could do,
1. you wait till he or she poops and you take the poop in the plastic bag and wait till it hardensns a little. than tkae it out and open it with swiesers and look for worms.
2. he could be getting old and paralized and is very old means it could be getting old and close to dieing.
3. has heart worms
4. sick has mabie eaten something wrong and hasent digested it.
if u check all of thies and one of them are it take he or she to the vet emetitly. because my dog died because of worms, from disgesting something he ate.

Why do you keep your dog outside, instead of inside with the rest of the family. If your dog is not able to get up and can't chew his food, then those are very obvious signs, that your dog is probably sick and needs to be seen by a veterinarian. We are not vets and cannot diagnose your dog over the Internet! We would only be guessing what's wrong, and that will not help your dog any! Bring your dog inside, where he belongs and take your dog to the vet, and find out what's wrong!

Sounds like a case of serious worms.
Or check the dog for any flesh wounds. Try asking a vet if either of those are not the problem.
Hope your dog is ok!
*EDIT*
Also, animals such as cats and dogs that are inside AND outside have a 75% chance of living longer and staying healthier.

Bring him inside and warm him up - take him to the vet. Why is he outside? That's so sad.

If this is really the situation, I think it needs better care, a new owner, and vet service.

time to make a trip to the vet.

he may have something wrong with his brain, um, take him to the doctor. How long does he spend outside? real strange.
