Why did my fish died?

It was only my Yo yo loachs. I have two catfish their just fine except for the ick and one albino pleko which is fine from what i can tell.My Yo yo loachs didn't have ick I know that.

My mom said she thinks it was from getting the new pleko (alge fish) but, we isolated him medicine and every thing. They never showed symptoms of being sick for two weeks. Then we left for a like two days came back and both my catfish had ick b/c they got stressed that the water temperature dropped so low (cus my mom lowed house temp b4 we left),they weren't being feed(couldnt get anyone to do it), and there light wasn't coming on. Next day after coming home power went out so the temperature dropped again. They kinda started to act different a day or so after that. I tried all medicines none worked we put stuff in for ph levels and other things like that.

Symptoms:

-Started hiding

-loss of appetite

-bleeding gills

-gasping for air

-rapid gill movement

-laying on side

-hid in unnormal spot (when they hid it usually same spot I can find them)

-loss in amount of energy

-damage red fins

-found them bloated may have bloated after death

-were sunk to bottom never floated to top one was dead way longer than other b/c i though it was alive in house it wasn't but never floated up

It died last night and didnt realize until tonight

I was told it floats once gasses build up it never floated

Tank:

-Is clean (cleaned today just in case it was contagions)

- 25 to 30 gallon tank

-medicined

Fish:

-had for a few months

-one new one was isolated and medicated

Hope you can help thanks.

Update:

1)Tamara p

I take very good care of all my pets. It's not my fault power went out putting my fish in stress b/c their light and heater wouldn't come on. I tried stress coat and other medicines to save them and again not my fault they didn't work. It's rude to say stuff like that when I just cried my eye's out trying to save them. What are you like 12?I'm 15 and I don't act or talk like that. All I can tell you is grow up.

2)Jess Sica

1)Yes, I checked chemicals and there good.2)I don't live in the city but, I do put conditioner stuff in there to get rid of stuff like that.3) I don't use soap to wash out fish tank I use really hot water scrub every thing down do it again then with cold water.4) I also do particle tank cleaning. Thank you.

3)Sam H

I've wondered that to but, I put stuff in to keep that low and i have two air things in it to help keep oxygen up.

4)HamtaroF...

Just look at #1.

Update 2:

5)Katie

I'm not sure when they bloated. I think after maybe. Ya I loved my yoyo loachs and love my fish I still have.I love my fish deeply just as much as i love my cats and dogs. I've spent lots of time and money on medicine, supplies, food ,filter, and light and many other things before even I got my fish to better ensure survival. Which I think 7 months was pretty long for it not being my fault and I tried as hard as I could to save them. yes,I medicated remaining fish and cleaned tank.Thank you, I'll write that medicine down.

Thank you, for all your help except #1 and 4 you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Sorry to hear about your fish. Since you weren't there when they died, the question is, did they bloat before or after death?

If they bloated before they died, it's likely they had "dropsy" I think dropsy is a bacterial infection wjich affects their kidneys and causes them to bloat. Unfortunately, once they have bloated, their kidneys are irreversibly damaged and they will die. I guess it's kinda hard to recognizethe problem before bloating appears, but the symptoms are there, you just have to observe. The kidneys stop working and they retain the water in their body. I keep maracyn-2 at the house mainly for this problem. One of my son's plecos died from this a couple of years ago, and it took alot of research to figure out this was the problem, but not before he began to bloat, unfortunately :(. Maracyn-2 will clear up the infection before it progresses too far. It's the only medicine I have found that expressly states that disease (and other diseases) on the package. It's rather expensive but worth it if it saves your fish!

It might be a good idea to at least partially treat the rest of the fish with this in case it has spread or to prevent spreading.

    Good luck!

fish are very sensitive...(1) you have to make sure all the chemicals in the tank are at the right levels (lots of pet stores will test for a small fee or even free if you just take them a sample of the water) and (2) if you got the water for your tank from the faucet, some cities have chemicals in their water (like chlorine and fluoride) that can kill a fish so you have to get counteractive treatments from the pet store to make the water safe...(3) when you cleaned your tank did you use soap? you can't use any type of soap on anything in a fish tank because no matter how good you think you rinsed it it can still have residue on it. i find the best way to clean aquarium parts is with a steam cleaner... and finally (4) fish give off chemicals of their own that can pollute their water (like humans exhale carbondioxide) so every so often you need to do a partial tank water change (how much you change depends on how big of an aquarium and how many fish are in it, your pet store should be able to tell you how much) i once thought that since eventually the water evaporates just adding fresh clean water to replace that would be enough but it's not. the chemicals that the fish make are not evaporated with the water so they build up and eventually will kill your fish....hope this helps!

It could have been ammonia posioning or lack of oxygen in the water
