spiritually speaking...how come everytime you take time to answer a question with a serious answer...?
you get like 1 thumbs up. But then if you answer it with something stupid, you get half a million?
For example, I'll answer a question about the universe, and no one will read it. But then someone asks a question and I answered it with "penis" and I got like 12 thumbs up?
(or ever notice how serious questions get no answers, but when someone asks about the best way to cook a babby, they get 30 some answers?)
Don't get me wrong...I love a good babby.

It's because the longer the answer, the further down the list of answers it's likely to be. Thus, the stupid answers at the top get more thumbs. These answers are also often clever or sarcastic, and they get more thumbs for that too. People are too lazy to read all the answers.
That's why I'm ALL THE WAY DOWN HERE!!! HELLO?!? CAN U SEE ME?!? LOL. No thumbs for me I guess.

Yeah. I've noticed that too. But I won't speculate on the reason. The only person who's opinion really matters is the one asking the question. I've pretty much given up playing to the gallery.

true is just easier to reply and doesn't take as much time.
let say someone ask how to put music on the ipod step by step?
then it will b more than 3 sentences
on the other hand if someone asks what is 2+2 then you just say 4
if you ask me I think it is a bit ridiculous, although I think is mostly because we either have kids or unmature people on yahoo answers

Yes, I've noticed this. It shouldn't matter anymore, it seems.
I've tried to answer truthfully but I guess that doesn't fit the @$$holes theory out there.
Don't worry, I'm in line with you and so are others. We're gonna just be the few that finally ruin those others little habit. That way, they will learn.

That's because the average age in here is about 17.
The older you are, the less likely you are to hang out on an internet forum like this. Its simple demographics.

That's because a lot of people tend to shy away from religion and spirituality since it frightens them or they simply don't want to change their lifestyle. Those people, it seems, like answers that seem to indirectly and succinctly show that they don't care about the question.

It's called the "lowest common denominator" in math. Low-brow humor has a wider appeal than deep spiritual matters.

I totally understand. I think it's mostly because a bunch of dumb a** kids just play around and don't have anything else to do..like make real people laugh. Also, real questions take real thinking and that's just no fun. You are one of the few with a brain. Join my club.
