Can you give an explanation of this politics-related cartoon in the Washington Post?

Can you give an explanation of this politics-related cartoon in the Washington Post?

Can you give a *detailed* explanation of how you perceive this cartoon (in Tuesday's 12/30 Washington Post)?

Just having a little debate with someone over the exact meaning of it!

Thanks for the help!

Update:

That's enlightening. Thanks.

Is the 'Presidency is what happens....' an obvious play on the quote, 'Life is what happens when you've made other plans' ?

Obama is spending his XMAS vacation in Hawaii.

While he is there many issues are piling up, like the Gaza situation.

  • i think this cartoon is making fun of politicians who say they're going to help the people who aren't heard, and the ones to say that they'll "work for the country". the cartoon shows obama drawing up a long agenda, and what the guy says means that when you're president, you have the power to make whatever you want to happen happen. so odds are you won't take too many orders from everyone else unless it's what you want. as for the lemons and lemonade, they're saying that there's a lot of misfortune (metaphorical "lemons") in the world, and if they're going to make lemonade out of all of it, it's going to be a "large".

that's what i get out of this.

I believe it's insinuating that Obama has no cares, and is completely oblivious to problems that need to be addressed, which is why he's in Hawaii on vacation.
