I have discovered, about 1600, a plethora of ancestors named Servatius. Is this possibly a title, not a name?

Seven separate men, all about 1600 AD. One is linked to a "Cirvass". Any clues?

Update:

Mostly it's a first name, but Peter Servatius is one case.Rhine valley area of Germany.

Was this their first or last name?

German and Dutch: from the Latin personal name Servatius (a derivative of the Roman family name Servatus, meaning ‘protected’). This was the name of the patron saint of Maastricht.
