what is wrong with my beloved cat?

My cat is almost exactly the same in behavior except for the only running away from my dad thing. He runs away from anything that scares him. He's definitely the definition of a scardey cat!

As for the lumps, older cats tend to have this little problem, but he should be fine. They might be itching him or bothering him which is why he's licking at them and biting at them. The little lump should be checked out as he might be getting some kind of growth from the weight or it might just be age. I had a cat pass away about a year ago and she had been getting those on and off for about three years. We never took her to the vet though because they didn't seem to be bothering her. If it doesn't go away after awhile about a week I would suggest taking him to the vet. A little check up never hurts. While your there have the vet check to make sure there aren't any tumors growing in his belly, but I'm sure he's fine. A cats skin is very much like a human skin. As they age the skin becomes softer and begins to sag. Because the cat stands on all fours the fat is being forced down to the ground by gravity and because he's older how his skin isn't as tight as it was in his younger years and can't hold up the weight as well anymore. Your cat needs to see the doctor immediately. Cats can go without eating for a time when they're not well but then they bounce right back after a day or so. Your cat sleeping all the time is alarming. It's not natural. It's NOT healthy. When you let your cat out (instead of keeping him as an indoor cat) there will always be a lot more risks for him and also he won't live as long. He could be poisoned. He could have eaten poison. You should be worried enough to take him to the doctor (vet) right away. I hope this helps. I wish you well.

If he really is your "beloved" cat than money shouldn't be an issue- Call a vet and explain your situation- you are concerned for your cat and just want a diagnoses, go in for a checkup- it should cost less than $50. They can tell you if it something you need to worry about.

If he is licking the area raw, he is probably in some sort of discomfort.

Also- as someone already said, older cats get that hangy skin thing- my older cat has it too. it can be from being overweight then losing weight rapidly. its just the skin not having time to shrink with the rest of the body- think about those fat people that get gastrointestinal surgeries.

all in all I would say take him into the vet. At least they could give you some solid answers.

Older cats do generally develop that udder like thing - both of my cats had it and they were both absolutely fine. The reason why your cat might be scared of your dad is because he might have had a bad experience with a man e.g someone might have kicked him or something absolutely beastly - my cat went through the same experience without us knowing about it until the end of his life, and hid from my Step Dad whenever he could.

As for the lump, I would see your vet about that - it's better to be safe than sorry.

I would take your cat to the vet. Because my cat was getting soars all over their body. Her stomach was growing rapidly, she's spayed too. It turned out to be something serious.

Don't worry about him being scared. My friend's cat runs when he sees somebody. I think your cat needs serious help.
