when i was a child (in the 90's!) my playmates would tell me that if i didn't say i believed in god, i would go to hell. actually, a lot of adults say this too, but that pisses me off for different reasons. i honestly don't believe that kids in elementary school understand very much about the god they heard about from their parents and i find it to be really horrible that little kids, under 10, were (are still?) saying stuff like this. i mean, i've heard kids talking smack about political parties they know NOTHING about because their parent's support the other side. am i wrong to think it's completely sick for kids to parrot their parents in these ways without being educated about the issue? is it really healthy to shove your own impression of god (or any other issue, for that matter) at a kid without letting them explore it for themselves? too young to be misinformed zealots! when this happened to me, even between the ages of 6-10, i was disgusted. not saying i never did anything like this though, i remember running around the playground speaking evils of george bush because my mother didn't like him. i'm just asking, seriously, is it really appropriate to let this happen? i feel that children should be allowed to see all the sides, even if they have to be simplified, it's still better than "THIS IS RIGHT, DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING ELSE AND MAKE ALL YOUR LITTLE FRIENDS KNOW IT TOO". i don't know what to make of it all...

there is a man who lives at the top floor of a very very tall apartment building. one morning while at work he receives a call from his 'across the hall neighbor' who says, "oh my god, someone just broke into your apartment, you better come quick!" the man races home and finds his apartment door open, but the place is deserted. he looks out the window and sees a man in a trenchcoat running as fast as he can out the entrance and into the street. the man panics and in a moment of desperation to stop the burgler, picks up his refrigerator and hurls it out the window, crushing the fleeing man. unfortunately, the act of lifting the refrigerator gives him a heart attack and he dies. at the pearly gates of heaven, st. peter is asking all supplicants to reveal the nature of their deaths to see if they qualify for entry. so, the man who's apartment was broken into says, "i had to throw my fridge to stop a theif." and he is allowed to enter. the man who was crushed says, "i was running late to the most important meeting of my life and some jerk threw a refrigerator on me." he is allowed access to heaven. a blonde man behind them says, " well, i'm not sure how i died. there i was sitting in some guy's refrigerator and then i was dead."

i have a pc with vista and everything was great with my ipod until i downloaded an update for itunes. now my ipod classic wont show up when i plug it in and it just freezes. i definately cant sync it. do i have to uninstall itunes and download the version that works? how do i find out which version of itunes is the right one?

all the sudden, every single one of my word documents wouldnt let me type in them, saying "section is locked". i can't get into the security options, it wont let me click on anything really. is it just vista being stupid?

i converted the files to a different microsoft word processor program and it works, but what happened? they werent in ;read-me' mode or anything that i could tell from file properties...

im really angry. does anyone know what happened and how to reverse it?

everyone i've been friends with for the last few years has been on drugs or an alcoholic. they are just awful people, no motivation, no purpose, no real drive to do anything at all but get messed up. i am trying to get cleaned up and get my life back together, and i want to meet people who aren't like them. i can talk to people, i guess, but i'm really awkward and i babble. i felt a bond between me and my old crowd that was mainly about hating life and wanting to make it go away, but i can't be like them anymore and i know if i go back to them i won't ever really get better. i want to meet people who don't engage in criminal activity on a regular basis, people who are more stable and..well...good. i get so nervous though. i don't have anything to talk about with regular people. the last few years of my life have been under the influence of drugs and booze. what can i talk about? how do i get people to like/accept me? i am so awkward socially without the aid of drugs and i cannot/must not keep doing them.i met some people at an alcoholics anonymous meeting, but they used to be that way too. i can talk to them, but how do i relate to 'normal' people? i'd love some tips on how to make small talk and make friends.

i've always had a pretty irregular period, but this time i haven't had it since the first week of october. it's been 3ish months. i don't have any other 'pregnancy symptoms' and i really don't know if i am or not. i know there are several other medical reasons why i am not having my period, but what are they? i'm not anorexic, and nothing else is already wrong with me, as far as i know. help?

i know i should have gotten a test by now, but i'm pretty much ignoring it/in denial.

im 16 and female. i have been diagnosed with various mental "disorders" including depression, bipolar disorder, schizo-affective disorder, and borderline personality disorder. i admit that i have a very different approach to life as the majority of humans, but is it really fair to tell me there is something wrong with me? i find it insulting. i have a history of self-injury and i have had a long affair with substance abuse. so what? i like how it feels to be high or drunk or whatever. i tend to go about things differently than most people i know but no one can accept that i'm not just defective and need medication. why does everyone expect everyone else to feel the same? why can't i feel sad every once in a while? i used to, sure. but now i don't care, i take what comes to me. i go out and have fun. even when something makes me sad, i use it to help me do something else. i don't think i am flawed in any way that's not common among humans. what justifies doctors forcing ( i say forcing because as a minor, i had no choice) chemicals that disable the patients ability to feel and think properly and shut down part of their brain function? is it just me, or do others feel this is wrong? why do people feel that experiencing emotions important to growth as a human are bad and should be stamped out? i just don't get it.

my father and i adopted two cats from the humane society a little over a year ago. the younger one, nessie, is three and she doesn't really have any problems that i've noticed. the second, felix, is ten and he is the one i am worried about. he is scared easily and he usually spends all his time in my room and runs away from my dad, but he is devoted to me. he is pretty fat, but he isn't much bigger than when we got him, and i'm used to having bigger cats. the wierd thing is, his belly is wierdly shaped, it kind of looks like he has udders because his lower stomach hangs down further than the rest, and it hangs in two lumps. he has licked almost all the hair off the lower nipples (the ones on the big stomach lumps) and the bites them all the time. yesterday i was petting him and i found a little bump on his side and when i parted the hair, there was a little growth-thing, it looked like it could have been a nipple, but it went out further than a nipple should and was brownish black and pointy. i'm really concerned about his health and i am very attatched to him. he seems perfectly happy, but his stomach looks strange and he, for some reason, has an intense hatred for the hair and nipples on it. and i am curious about the growth-thing i found on him. i need a couple opinions because i don't know if i could afford a vet bill and i would like to know if it sounds serious because i will take him to get seen if it is bad. here is a picture of him http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp28/discokrypt...
