At what age do you stop bragging about getting drunk the night before and become embarrassed about it?
I see everyone bragging about drinking tonight, and I can sure understand celebrating the end of 2008; BUT in my (not so) humble opinion, bragging about getting falling down drunk is NOT something done by mature adults

I'm glad you posted this question... It wasn't more than a few weeks ago on my way home from work that I asked myself the same question.
I don't think its an age that you stop, but a stage in your life when you start to settle down. I remember quite well bragging about going out and getting drunk into my early 20's. The drunker I got, the more I bragged about it... "Oh man, I got so fu#(ed up last night, lol" It was funny to "black out". Me and all my friends would spend the next few days laughing about all the stuff we did, but couldn't remember.
I really started to settle down around 23, I was married at 24. I'm 30 now, and I still drink, still get drunk on occasion, still look forward to going out with friends, but I haven't bragged about it in years.
On the same hand, I work with people the same age as me who still brag about it. At that age I don't know if it is a lack of maturity, a desire for everyone to think that they are cool, or if they are really just trying to convince themselvs that they are still young. When they talk about it, I'll go along and laugh... I'll tell stories about things I used to do when I was drunk, but I certainly don't think anything more of them or envy them at all.
Thanks for the question, it brought back some hazy memories... Star for you.

Exactly 7 months after you get a real job for the first time (I said REAL job, not pizza delivery or bartender.)

New Years eve is a totally different story, because most people plan on throwing a few back regardless of how immature such statements make them look.
As far as every other day of the year: I'm 22 and 1/2 and I think i'm almost to the point where " I was sooo smashed last night" is a poor excuse for my behavior the following day.

That's because it's not.
Age has nothing to do with maturity.
For me, it was when I was in the Marine Corps. Those were the stories you would hear about whenever someone brought the topic up. "We were so trashed!" That's a different mentality though.
Outside of the Corps I never have. It makes me feel like I'm 16.

You're right it's not! Unfortunately some adults never do grow up and for some that's all they have.

there's nothing wrong with it as long as all responsibilities are taken care of before hand or by someone else (i.e. babysitting, having a dd, etc.)
