Why are the hockey jersey's front logos so stiff?

I got a jersey for christmas [Penguins 71 Malkin =)] and I realized the logo on the front is extremely stiff and does not bend very easily. I guess all the real jerseys are like that. Is there a way to fix this? Like will it loosen up a lot after being washed? or should I just return it and get the money for it?

It's very common; the logos are either sewn or heat-pressed on, and obviously, they're pretty heavy (all hockey sweaters are like this). They do get a bit less stiff over time.

    Just wear the thing.

you should return it and get your money back. Who wants a pens jersey anyway?

Because its embroidered and has a backing. Its the way it is supposed to be. They were made to play hockey in, not built for fashion comfort.

  • go pens dude!

but yea i was wondering the same thing

because i got a mario lemieux jersey and the penguin logo was all stiff in the front.

i guess it just looks better if it's like that instead of it being printed.

"I Star" is right. I got a Devils jersey from Sports Authority, blank, because I wanted my own name on the back and a number of my choice. I took it to the store that makes my old high school's varsity jackets, without specifying that it should look real, and they just ironed on the name and the Number 44, and it looks cheap. (Guess what: It wasn't cheap.)

Of course, having a stiff logo on the front shouldn't be surprising, because, being a Penguin, Malkin IS a stiff. Yeah, in '84 you got Number 66 and two Cups; we got Kirk Muller, got to the Playoffs three times with him, and traded him for Stephane Richer and Tom Chorske who beat the Pens in '95 and got us the first of three Cups.

Because it looks like crap if it's just printed on.
