Why doesn't the IRS audit where the tax money is being wasted?

They audit people and business, why not our politicians and our tax dollars?

You're living in a dream world. If I read the report below correctly the IRS spent 10 billion dollars in 2007 and plans to spend 11 billion in 2008.

The sad part is that doesn't include how much it cost the taxpayers and business to comply with the IRS regulations and collect payroll taxes.

All of that could be saved by going to the fair tax. How about eliminating the IRS instead of giving them more power.

Wrong department. IRS collects the money. GAO looks after spending.
