xanax vs ativan dosage?

I have been prescribed ativan 1 mg 4x a day for a few weeks due to trauma. What would the difference be if it was xanax. Would that be too much xanax?

I have been on both medications. Four times a day in and of itself is a good way to keep you, well, relaxed.

Honestly, if it were Xanax or Ativan, you would be just fine as it is pretty hard to overdose since you are taking the med through out the course of the day. Xanax is Alprazolam and Ativan is Lorazepam. They both contain the same chemical base, but do have a slight difference in effect. I notice that Ativan makes my appetite peak a little more and I feel a little more aloufe on it.

I was on 3mg Xanax and sometime had to take that 2 times a day for panic attacks.

    You should be fine..

Again - I am not a MD, so my advice is only suggestions.. I would consult a doctor before upping any dosages on your own.
