Can a AA battery dropped down the drain cause issue?
Changing batteries in my beard clippers I accidentally dropped a AA battery which went down the drain to my bathroom sink. ( had the stopper up ).
Should I be concerned that this can cause any problem besides a blockage / stoppage?

No problem unless the water is not draining. If water is not draining you'll have to open the trap and remove the battery. The battery will not move past the U trap because of it's weight.

No, it wouldn't get hot enough to burst, but the water will cause corrosion and eventually a leak of the fluid from inside the battery. Flushing battery acid down a drain isn't a good idea, but it is a small amount. It may not be great for the plumbing. Unless the tub drain backs up, I wouldn't expect an exposure to the chemicals yourself, it is more damage to the plumbing and environment that are a concern. It happens quite often but tends to be toilets that they get dropped into or kitchen sinks where the trap is easily accessible. In the case of toilets, while not a great thing in terms of hazardous waste, they would be able to pass through the pipes. In a sink, you can open up the pipe and they would often be in the u section. I'm not sure with a tub. I know there is some way to access the trap for it, but I've never done it and I think it is common for it to involve cutting into walls or ceilings to get at it.

not at all,the amount of acid in the battery will be neutralized by the waste water, not any worse than dropping a paper clip down the drain.

Wow that's a big opening to swallow a double "A" but I would not call a plumber, I would take the p-trap off and see if it caught it, if it made it through the p-than you will b ok just the fish need to be concerned. call hazmat!!!!1st so they can give you a ticket

I'd be concerned if the corrosive acids started to leak. It would chew up the pipe eventually. In either case it will cause a problem unless you are a do-it-yourself-er and can retrieve the battery.
I dropped something down the toilet that wedged itself in sideways or otherwise was in there solidly. Everything (if you know what I mean) snagged up on it.
I tried everything, a plunger, a plumbers snake, to loosen it up. In the end I had to replace the whole toilet. What an expense. Still can't figure out what did a header off the shelf above the toilet.

Other than causing a blockage sometime in the future there is no other problem that can be caused by a AA battery. You can probably prevent a clog by undoing the trap below the sink and removing the battery.

Electricity and chemical wise, you should be just fine.
It will cause a clog, that's about all. But chances are that it's stuck in the trap. You might want to unscrew the trap and remove it so it doesn't work it's way down the line to an inaccessible spot.

yeah that's not good. the battery can rupture and cause the crap inside to spill which is very toxic. i would call a plumber.

well if it sits at the bottom of the pipe and starts collecting hair and such yes in time it will
