Acoustic guitar or electric guitar for beginners?

Hi

I REALLY want to play the guitar. I like the electric guitar more then the acoustic, but I'm a beginner, so I don't know if it's such a good idea to start out with the electric. Since I'm just starting, should I start out with the acoustic or electric?

Thanks :-)

The acoustic wins hand down. I always recommend to my students to start out with an acoustic and work their way toward the electric guitar in two years or so.

The acoustic demands precise finger strength and dedication to either get it or not. The student does not need to focus on all the artificial tremolos, echos, reverberation, chorus, and other like-minded devices that would inhibit learning to play.

I would recommend an electric. plus if the main reason for an acoustic is for impressing girls and the reason for electric is because you really want to play music then I'd go with electric. and yes, acoustic songs can be played with an electric because most amps can be adjusted so that it plays acoustically, but it doesn't have the same feel as an acoustic and there's a difference in sound, but with the right song, you could still impress a girl. as for learning the chords and notes, yes it really does depend on the person but it shouldn't take very long. i know some people who learned most of the basic chords in no time at all and some who took a while longer. And it's best to start with easy songs, some of the most popular songs are the easiest. it may take a while to really get good at guitar. I've been playing since i was 9 and started with a first act electric. it's an easy matter of working your way up as you get better.

Learn how to perform the guitar from your own home with the Jamorama online program for guitar that you will think it is here https://tr.im/uOiju

One of the exciting and beneficial featuring that you will find in the Jamorama course is the "Jam Songs ".As you feel the classes, they give you sheet audio to a song, and then 2 music paths to get along with the song.

The very first music track will have the guitar part in it (so you are able to hear how it's designed to sound), and the other audio track gets the track with the guitar eliminated (so you can play with yourself!)

They coordinate the Jam Paths really straightforward manner.

Jam Trails is just one of the countless points from Jamorama that can make understanding the guitar simple actually for the novices (especially if there isn't a guitar instructor there to help you once you produce mistakes).

Acoustic. its a lot harder on your fingers and builds finger strength. and you can take it just about anywhere. Then id go for the electric.

    Or buy both.

Well since you're a beginner I would suggest acoustic because it will help to strengthen your fingers. But if you REALLY want a electric and you will be planning to buy one anyways after you get the basics down, you could get an electric first to save money.

Start with what you love and what you're passionate about.

I'm sure the classic way is to start with acoustic to learn all of the proper techniques, but music is about passion and do what you love and want to do.
