Yes it is. Lots of places are closed! banks closed, mail not delivered. But I am not sure about department stores. I'm pretty sure the movie theater is open. Call the places you want to go just to make sure. Happy New Year! Cheers from Los Angeles, CA!

Yes. I used to work for a contractor to the federal government and our paid holidays were on the same days that were considered legal holidays. Banks tend to be closed, but you may find a few branches open inside of supermarkets. No mail delivery. Department stores should be open.

It is a holiday. No mail delivery, no banks. Retail will be open as that only seems to close on Christmas day. Also restaurants and entertainment places should be open.
