Before you answer this, please read my description. Do animals have souls? ?

It is true that humans have souls, the bible is clear on this (1 Kings 17:21). We are made of many parts, like a car. It is true that a car cannot move unless there is a driver. This is how the soul acts, it is the driver of the "car" or body, agree? When we die our soul departs from our body, our brain does not follow it. The Bible says that in heaven and hell, you can think about your family and think, just like when you were on earth. This ability to think leaves the body, the brain does not leave. Therefore, the brain does not act as the driver of the car, but the soul does. Without the soul driver, we are dead even though our brains are still present. If animals do not have souls, they would be like the unmoving car would they not? Yet animals are not stagnant, for I can see my dog moving right now. Does a soul have to be something that is immortal? Could an animal have a sort of temporary soul that ceases to exist as a human life? What if animals don't have souls, but are driven by instinct? This is the alternative theory right? Please tell me your position and justify it with facts backing up why you believe this.

Update:

I do not have the time or willpower to discuss why the idea of a soul is credible. I placed this answer with the preconceived idea that only Christians would view my question and in turn would naturally accept the idea of a soul. I believe in the soul because the Bible says so, but also because of observation and evidence. No disrespects, and I do thank you all for your answers. Let's just play nice. Happy New Year!!!!

this is a really good question. i believe that the brain asa part of the body makes us move but its our soul that makes the decisions.

with animals i think the same they must have a soul to show affection, wouldn'ttthey?

but then you get people who are absolutely horrible and terrifying. do they have souls, yes but a very bad conscience or not one at all, which poeple may say is like an animal which is not tame.

when you see animals in the wild which are driven by instinct, for example a lioness, she hunts but also cares for her family. or a primate which are very similar to us, they also have compassion which may or may not need a soul to show this, but i believe they do.

i hope this helps and doesn't confuse you!

The law of Moses is a curse because nobody keeps it. For example people talk about keeping the Sabbath. There is more to following the Sabbath than resting on Saturday. The seventh month is Sabbath month. The seventh year is a Sabbath year. Farmers are not supposed to plant during a Sabbath year. Then you have the 49th and 50th years are both Sabbath years back to back. For two years you can't plant things. If Christianity is a big lie the Judaism is a big lie too cause I have yet to see any Jew practice Jubilee. My Christian Bible explains to me why Jewish people suffer so much. Do you not see the suffering. I say either follow your law to the letter which you can't or repent to the Jesus that died to set you free from the bondage of the law and sin.

When God made Adam, He breathed His breath into him and made Adam live, giving him a soul, is my understanding. We were not created as the animals but to walk and talk with God eternally. The animals were created as part of our world for us, to support us and actually gave Adam the job of naming them and caring for them.

Again, we were created to walk and talk with God eternally, have intelligent conversation and a love for Him forever. We sinned and broke that barrier, well, you know the rest. Our souls became immortal at that point.

Animals were not created for God, but for mankind and the earth. I don't personally believe that animals have the same type of soul because of their purpose.

I am a medical transcriptionist and have had to do some studying to get my job. I'm not a doctor and don't claim to be, but our nervous system is incredible, in fact the way we're made is incredible to me. Animals have no rational thought process, such as if I do this, then that happens but if I do that, this happens. They do not create (such as art or music). They move solely on nerve impulses, action and reaction. The soul is more than just the impetus for movement, that's the nervous system. The soul includes rational thinking and creativity.

I'm not sure what the reason for your question is, like will animals go to Heaven, but we are definitely not created for the same purpose and God spoke all animals into being but for man, He hand-crafted, created and breathed His very own breath into him. He died for mankind but animals have no such ability to choose to do good or bad nor do they have the understanding of salvation through their God because they can't understand that there's a need for salvation.

If they have a soul as you've defined it, there is no Biblical proof and no scientific proof that I'm aware of.

To answer your question is to answer several points, so be patient with me, okay????

We as Humans have a Soul OR Spirit, their sort of interchangeable, Anyways, the Bible refers to this in some cases as a "Spirit" and then in others as a "Soul". Still their the same thing. It is true we as humans were made in Gods "Image" but we are fallen beings. You see, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, are the three parts of the same God, remember God gave you "Finite" abilities, so seeing three in One is sort of tough. We are Body and Soul only, as the fallen beings that we are. Angels are singular in form, Spirit, they have never had a body and never will. Believe it or not the Bible states that the Angels would give up their existance as an Angel to be a Human for a few moments, to give their Soul to the Lord and then die, to be like us!! Strange right???

Now....animals on the other hand are beings created and given Life here on earth, yet they have NO soul. Their created code as given to them by God is to be companions to us. BUT.....remember this always.....GOD.....is LOVE....right??? When we pass on and our bodies stay here, those of us that are saved are immediately with the Lord in Heaven. We do not forget our lives here as far as the Love and those we knew here and this includes our Loving Pets!!!

All of the parts of our Lives that have anything negative about them, are NOT remembered, we do remember everything else and this is God appointed. I beleive that we will have those animals we loved with us in Heaven!!! To be honest and the fact that I have three cats, I beleive they will be with me in Heaven and all the other pets that I have had across my lifetime. The truth is though, they were put here on earth and into our lives to add to our lives, the feelings of love in which we feed them and care for them, we also learn from them as well. They teach us to be caring and loving, to see beyond ourselves and to go out of our way to show compassion, they also give us companionship and Love (Gods Love right??) tye reduce our stresses and calm our souls. Funny thing, this pertains to any animal!!! My Mother by Blood had a Moose and Bear as pets when she was a girl.

So yes, I beleive these animals will be with us in Heaven, simply because God knows we love them and God is Love. Animals do NOT have souls, they do NOT sin, simply put they instictively react to the situation. The reason they do not sin, is because "Sin" is the "Intent of the Heart". We as humans are the only ones that have that ability and a sad ability it is too. Sin is the only thing that separates us from God. Having said that, God is the only one that can STOP from remembering our sin, but only if we choose to ask for forgiveness of our sin. This is in fact the reason....Jesus Christ....came to this earth, to bring us Salvation through His blood on the Cross.

Source(s): Sort of makes you wonder why anyone would be so willing to throw their lives away....for sin!! Trust me, the "Athiests, agnostics and essentially everyone that does NOT accept Jesus Christ" are going to be so surprised when they pass on. To look back and KNOW they had a chance, but their arrogance blinded them!! So Sad...right???

You seem to be ignoring scriptures such as Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10: "For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun...All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going."

Animals do not have souls, humans do not have souls, we are souls. Genesis 2:7 And souls are not immortal, they die Ezekiel 18:4. Daniel L, that's your personal opinion as the Bible does not say that. The Scriptures say that flesh and blood cannot enter heaven. Earth is man's home and this is where obedient mankind will spend eternity.

Of course animals have souls, otherwise why would they interact the way they do with people, other animals and situations? Who ever came up with that absurd theory that the do not have souls is pathetic themselves.

The concept of a soul is unsubstantiated.
