virus that affects internet browsers?

well i thought i deleted the virus -- there were 5 hidden temp files ... anyway, now that i at least have internet access again, it;s still messing up search engines, ie: if i do a search in google, no matter what link i click in the list of results, it all goes to the same page, so advertisements ... we did a full computer scan with windows live one care and it found nothing. but this virus has als stopped me from downloading any other antivirus programs :-(

From my journey with my Brother's workstation (additionally an eMachine), by using certainty the day it has come out of the field, this is been a horriable, horriable mess. the region you're dealing with might desire to be by using certainty of an endemic yet no longer out of your iPod. clarification why Apple products (such by using certainty the Mac computers) are stated as "virus resistant" is by way of the certainty the take the the information and injury them down before working them, unlike DOS on abode domicile windows.

Google for the name of the address that you end up at - it might point you to a specific virus that will help you find exact instructions for getting it removed (edited... typo or maybe braino). Try right clicking on search results to open instead of the usual left click and that might work - it does in some cases.

Other possiblities are that you have a DNS changing trojan, in which case you have to reset your broadband modem or router, assuming that you use one of those.

System Restore may have the files backed up so you would promptly get reinfected. Do as the first person said and go into Safe Mode (tap F8 on starting up, it's meant to be as the computer says that it's starting up Windows) and scan with Malwarebytes:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5...

I've given you an alternate download site from its' home because viruses often block it.

Install, update, boot into Safe Mode, update again if it wants and then run scan. Remove everything it finds. Disable and re-enable System Restore if everything looks good.

Or just follow this guide which has more details on Malwarebytes and using it, as well as other programs:

this is the free 30-day trial of nortan anti-virus.

    It rocks face.

If that doesn't kill the virus off, you might have to re-install windows or call a technician or geek squad.
