Nintendo DSi, what's the point?

What's the point of the system? It cannot play GBA games, less battery power, and is basically the same as the DS Lite. What is good about it? Is there some new feature or something?

During their Fall Press Conference today, Nintendo have - as expected - announced a new version of the Nintendo DS. Called the Nintendo DSi, it eschews the GBA slot (boo!) in favour of a slight downsizing (it's a little thinner) and a range of improvements. The handheld's screens have been enlarged, and will now be 17% bigger (at 3.25 inches) than those found on the DS Lite. As for the rumoured additions, both have proven to be correct, with "audio enhancements" made to the handheld, while it will also now include a .3 megapixel (640x480) camera. And that's just the start of it.

The DSi also features an SD memory card slot, making it possible to take pictures with the DSi and then view them on the Nintendo Wii. The DSi features a built-in browser, and it's possible to download games and keep them on the DSi.

  • DSi is evil it doesnt even have a GBA slot but then again if you dont like it you dont have to buy it right -_- I never liked the DS lite either my fat old DS works perfectly fine thank you very much...stupid camera

initially it somewhat is not considerable whats your age, i'm 13 too. i think of the DSi XL is a waste of money yet don't get a universal DSi get the twenty 5th Anniversary simply by fact in a countless different 10 years from now its going to be nicely worth huge $$. in basic terms simply by fact its a Mario's twenty 5th Anniversary product. P.S. in case you like some thing portable I recommend getting a iPod touch, in basic terms simply by fact the prevalent (mega pixels on the DSi XL and DSi are not the superb to take photos with) on the digital camera is larger (in basic terms 4th era bigger). then you definately could desire to actual watch movies on the iPod Touches, and the internet is somewhat laggy at cases on the DSi.

its got a camera, an sd card slot for mp3's and photos, and has software to kinda im people. It works pretty good in japan, but unless everyone here wants to go spend 200 dollars and get a new one even though they already sold millions of ds lites...i dont think its worth it.
