Have you ever had a secret sister at work..?

I have never heard of a secret sister. What is that?*

Oi...well, don't take it too personally. You know what? Not everyone's in a good financial situation, and perhaps they wanted to receive a gift and to play, but they really didn't have money.

What can I say, look around, it's a financial crisis. Some people can only give away as gifts things that they got on sale, gifts they got form other people and things they already own (for a long time).

Once you comprehend that - I don't think you'd feel as bad about your gift.

I personally never even care whether people give me gifts or not. I give people gifts despite them giving me one. Part of being an adult, hon, is being able to calm yourself and kill the feeling of self-pity. My God, will you life improve if you do that

Some people are just lousy gift givers. They don't intentionally do this but truly haven't a clue as to what giving a gift means. Either opt out of the next round of drawing or learn to accept the gifts you are given with a cheerful heart. If having a secret sister is causing you grief and making you resentful maybe you need to sit out a couple of years. It should be fun for all.

Maybe this person didn't have enough money to get something nicer (sometimes even a small amount of money is too much), or maybe she's in the middle of something horrible in her personal life and couldn't put any effort or thought into it. Maybe she just forgot about it and had to come up with something at a moment's notice. Maybe she's just the kind of person who gives crappy gifts.

This is not necessarily personal, so don't take it that way.
