Are there any surround sound receivers that work with an HDMI cable alone?

I'm talking about the AUDIO side of things. My Sony receiver has HDMI pass through, and I know it only works the TV speakers for audio with the HDMI cable. Are there any receivers that now work audio and video from the one HDMI cable with surround speakers?

Update:

Great, I bought the Sony STR-DG800, and now you tell me the 820 has that capability. Thanks for the answers guys!

Yes, many mid-level and higher A/V receivers can terminate and process the digital audio off their HDMI inputs while passing the digital video on to their HDMI output port(s).

As an example, the Sony STR-DG520 will only support digital audio & video passthrough (or switching) from its HDMI inputs while the Sony STR-DB820 is fully capable of processing the audio (Dolby Digital, DTS, & Linear PCM) on its HDMI inputs to the attached speakers.

ok, so, there is a few solid information right here... you need to purchase a Blu-Ray participant in a encompass sound and audio device kit. it is named a house Theater In a field, (HTIB). you need to seem on the field it truly is equipped in for HDMI cables if blanketed or no longer. And if a chance, what number inputs and outputs there are and what sorts. this offers you an idea of compatibility with something of your device. you've already got the television/video demonstrate. The cable field could hook into the television and the television into the encompass. The Blu-Ray might want to artwork being plugged into the encompass sound channel for say, DVD. once you want to observe DVD's, the enter is already piped into the device and a change of the television to AV and the encompass switched to DVD and "viola!" there your device is going in perfect sound and hues! desire This helps!

I think Yamaha rx-v361 is good. This not only has excellent Yamaha quality, but it also has a boat load of features, high sound quality, high picture quality, surround realism. This receiver sounds really awesome and you can hook up all your stuff to it like your DVD player or your game systems. Personal choice is what it's all about. The best home theater system on the market, taken literally, will set you back thousands upon thousands of dollars however, choose what's best for you and your budget.

Yep. There are a good number of receivers that can handle audio decoding. My Onkyo TX-SR606, for example, has 4 HDMI-in ports and plays anything I send to it (including multi-channel PCM).
