How fast should I be jogging?

So my new years resolution is to work out more, and I am doing this eight week jogging plan. However, I have never looked that seriously into jogging, and I have been told that when I "Jog" I am actually sprinting.

How fast should I be going when jogging? like MPH?

Any suggestion would be great! thanks!

jogging is usually 5 to 7 MPH. . you can even jog at the speed of walking or a little bit faster, because its not just about speed but the biomechanics of jogging is different than walking.

if you can keep up the same pace for a long time(e.g. 30 minutes ) then you are definatly not sprinting, because sprinting is very fast that a person can only maintain that speed for a short distance.

i hope that helped. just to say i am a sprinter and i have Bsc in sports science.

Uhh when you Spring your Arms move rapidly side by side your chest is sticking out. You well know when your jogging, your try spreading your arms in front of you. Then bend it towards you make a Right angle on both arms. Run while keeping that arms form.

But can I ask why you want to JOG instead of Sprinting? Sprinting does not take any oxygen therefore you burn more fat. and if it is easier for you I don't get why you want to slow yourself down.

It's all about "pacing yourself" but that answer always drove me crazy. So don't run to fast to where you give up faster and don't jog to slow to where you don't get a workout. Hope this helped =)

There's no universal answer to this. Find a pace that allows you to run for 2 hours without stopping. Something like 12 mph is probably about right.

You should be jogging faster than the dog that is chasing you.
