How can i handle a lying and hypocritical mentor?
I have Borderline Personality Disorder and I find conflict very hard to handle let alone do. but I have this mentor at my work who I've found out that she's lied to me on several occasions and is a hypocrite! She'll tell me that you have to smoke in this area only and I've seen her smoking in the non-smoking areas and when I've tried to bring it up with her she walks away because she doesn't want to hear it, she never thinks she's wrong and doesn't listen to anyone elses opinion. I don't know what to do? I know I should be assertive but it's hard when she won't listen.
how can i fix this? what should I do?
I can't get a new mentor, the job that I work in doesn't work like that. She's the only one in her position. Alot of the other staff are sick of her too, but noone can say anything coz she plays the "I'm getting discriminated against coz I'm gay" card!

Well a mentor is supposed to be someone you trust respect and listen too.
Sounds like you need to choose a new mentor, if she won't listen and always gives advice and doesn't follow her own, then she is being hypocritical and shouldn't be in a position of mentoring you.
But becareful of seing things black and white, and well done in trying to be assertive. Hopefully finding a new mentor will help you....
