    Yes, in County Tipperary.

see Clonmel near the bottom of the map. Thurles is situated just a bit above.

    http://www.eircomphonebook.ie/search/Thurles/O'Dwy...

shows 56 residential phone entries for O'Dwyer. If your friend has more information to narrow down his search, he may indeed have relatives there.

Thurles is near the town of Cashel, just north of it. Cashel is between Tipperary town and Kilkenny.

O'Dwyer? It would be like looking for a needle in a haystack, there are several families of that name in the area!

But if your friend has a first name, he could try www.goldenpages.ie and click on the eircom phone book link, and possible track down some relatives.

Thurles is a town in Co Tiperary.

You may have the spelling of the surname incorrect.

    In might be O'Dwyer.

I went to school in Thurles. O'Dwyer is a pretty common name in the area. There are a few families with the name in my village, and there were 3 different (unrelated) girls with that surname in my class in secondary school.

Try these websites for information on doing genealogical research in Co. Tipperary:
